Haha. As if they're going to check everyone's credentials out. I suspect its more for use as an arse covering question should a runner come to grief

I just assumed I was in and I'm not convinced that they'll check the qualifiers of 999 people which brings me back to another thread about race entry (I always put my race numbers as well as proof) but anyway, I agree with DT, if you are on the list, have the qualifying races and you've paid your money, seems to me that you'll be in!

Re: 3 Peaks Fell Race 2013

The reason I was asking is because I had to pull out at Ribblehead in 2011 due to stomach bug and couldn't enter last year due to injury. So I come under the category as stated 'Runners who do not fulfill either of these requirements but who have endurance running experience should submit details on their entry'.
I guess you're right Stolly, they need to cover themselves but I thought the point of listing qualifications was so that they could check. Quote from 3 Peaks Race page 'The many hundreds of hours we spend verifying entries is critical to the safe running of the race'.

Blimey, I didn't know they do that (or at least said that they do it). I suspect that they do spot checks if truth be told. You'll be fine Louise

Oh well, I shall await race number confirmation! Fingers crossed. It's just a little training day run for me anyway! :w00t:

Yes, they do appear to check. A few people had said to me that they don't bother checking anymore. So, me being a bit pedantic emailed Bryan the RO to get the full SP and here is his response; I think it is ok to reprint it here, the info is relevant.

"Not sure where you got this misleading information from re /race qualifications , Any one cannot enter the 3Peaks Race, The requirements are clear to read.
Race Entries open on Line on Sat 2 Feb an i check progress regularly.
Entrants are contacted, if detailed races are not correct we expect them
to make every effort to enter and submit a result , other wise they in
breach of our Entry Rules and would loose there entry. It is in the interest of your safety and our good reputation you follow the
    Race Entry rules."

They aren't going to check those entries that ran in the last couple of years, they don't need to they can check the results and I guess people race this year on year so the number of 'new' entries to check might not be as many as you think.

    There you go.

Good one Fairyfeet. I'm pleased that they do actually check.

I applied for a place in the Jura fell race a few years ago and didn't have the qualifiers so I wrote to the RO and explained my situation and experience and she gave me a place on the understanding that I do the qualifying races before Jura, needless to say, I got injured and had to pull out before race day:thunbdown:. Its still on my 'to do' list and I'm thinking about it for next year.

Re: 3 Peaks Fell Race 2013

The first time I entered I had to blag my way in by basically emailing the organiser prior to entering and giving various examples of races I had done (none a cat A or B long) and he emailed me back to say I was ok to enter as long as put this info on the entry. I repaid his generosity by pulling out at Hill Inn

This time round, I haven't had any problems with qualifying as last years racing involved (amongst others) 2 x AL's and 2 x AM's. Funnily enough I feel in a much better position this time round and have already decided that if I can still walk I will be finishing it however long it takes me. If I can do Borrowdale I can do the Peaks.

See you all there on the day, please give jelly babies generously

I'm sure you can do it, you came past me easily at holme moss and I'm (possibly foolishly) not worried that I won't finish 3P.

Getting round under 4 hours though. That is playing on my mind.

Also, does anyone have any advice about what shoes to wear? I've walked it in roclite 295s but they felt a bit heavy. was thinking either inov8 190s or some adidas racing flats if it is very dry.
