Now there's a name from the past. I remember Derek as a prolific organiser of inter-club ( KVRC, Barrow Central Wheelers, Lune RCC & Lancaster CC ) events in the 60's, 70's & 80's. Was not aware that he'd passed on. Respect!

Just out of interest, anyone on here had dealings with 'Cotic Bikes, based in Belper, Derbyshire? Their "X" 'cross bike looks rather nice, in heat treated CroMo.

Another 80 mins off road, mud and snow certainly make you work hard.

Stopped by 5 foot high snow drifts... we still have too much snow but at least roads seem largely clear of snow and ice now, so road ride tomorrow then

90min on the MTB, first ride in over 4 months.

God it was awful, I always forget what it's like for the first week or so. Legs not interested.

Well, went out again. I look forward to the day I can sit down without crying.

Tried a 4 hour road ride yesterday, gave up after 2 hours, managed barely 2.5. I am utterly fedup with the freezing temperatures, snow and ice and have given up cycling. I cannot train the volume I need to train in these conditions, it is simply impossible and doing up to 8 hours on the turbo really isn't an option when training for endurance MTB races

Chin up Hann. Another 5 or 6 weeks and we'll be setting out in shorts and short-sleeved summer shirts, wondering what all the fuss has been about - just what we were discussing on this morning's CTC 25 miler.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

The last time I wore shorts and s/s jersey without at least arm and knee warmers was in March last year :w00t: I am not kidding you! On our ride yesterday we were trying to think back when we were last out without all sorts of thermal layers and if you look at my race photo's, even in the hight of summer, I am wearing merino baselayers and arm warmers... They would get stripped down around my wrists if it was a little warmer, but largely, they were worn!

By the way, no personal experience with Cotic, but several friends have and rave about them...
