Having read everyone's enthusiastic comments about these I ordered some, which arrived today. Compared with the x-talons I was trying to replace (cheaply) they seem horribly clumpy, so I expect I will be posting them back. My mistake of course, but anyone else looking for anything remotely low profile or responsive will be similarly disappointed I think. Oh well, best start looking for that extra £50 quid....
They are clumpy compared to X-Talons (MK1 Cheviots are a league on in 'clumpy-ness!). I think they're more comparable to Mud Claws, which are also clumpy compared to X-Talons. Chatting to a lad tonight from another club who shall remain nameless for manufacturer related reasons, is getting on well with the MK2s also. He's been training in them in some proper grot and they're still holding up with minimal wear. Wore mine tonight at the 'Grisedale Grind'. They were much more sure-footed than all the other pairs I've raced in on that course, and the ground was saturated.
Sad to report this is the state of mine after just 110 miles, don't think they'll hold up much longer!
The grip was great, but I won't be buying more. Any recommendations for something similar but more durable? Mudclaw 300s? Probably better value if I can get 4-500 miles out of them.

...saying that, for trail running they should still be good, as less low level heather/gorse to rip them apart. I assume that is what has happened here?
Most of my running involves a mix of heather, peat bogs, and paths cut into fairly abrasive gritstone. It's that mix that seems to have done for them!
My shoe of preference for racing was Walsh. I agree, the Cheviots seem clumpier but in practise when I race in them they seem just as low, responsive etc etc. longevity issues are a question though...I think they need cleaning to get abrasive grot out rather than just chucking in a corner.

Did Cribyn race in em today. Usually suffer on the nasty contour there. Today just floated across. They get more impressive with every wear.
Keep em for gnarly races and use something like Kanadias for training....sorted.
