    Re: Quiet Around Here

There's a local council election today in my area to elect a councilor to replace the recently deceased one.
Its usually a shoe-in for the Conservatives as the lady who died was well liked for all her local actions and
probably picked up votes from people who were not naturally Conservative voters.

The usual political shenanigans are in full flow.
The Libdems who got about 180 votes last time (Conservatives 1800, Labour 800 approx) are saying a vote for Labour is a wasted vote Labour think they are in with a shout this time and I have had 3 visits from them today (just one from Cons + Libdems).

You never know, our little area could turn out to be a political bellwether for the whole of the country. I am sure David Cameron and Ed Milliband will be monitoring it closely

Conservatives got in again but were 800 votes down on last election: Labour were about 150 votes down and the Liberals were down as well. We had a National Front candidate standing and he got 154 votes !! Better get my fascist sniffer dog out and find out who all these people are

Absolutely  Oh and I wasn't implying that the sniffer dogs were fascists just that they had the ability to sniff fascists out. Thought I had better clear that up before the forum dog lovers starting accusing me of political stereotyping of sniffer dogs

I saw the Police were out searching today again on Blackstone Edge Road as I was driving down to Mytholmroyd. Very sad. http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/local...6081-33243872/
