I actually like the descent from Bowfell to Rossett Gill, in fact I'd say that from Bowfell to Dunmail is nicer running than going in the opposite direction.

Thanks to Gavin and yourself for asking me along for anticlock leg 3. I really enjoyed the challenge. hope my nav didnt loose us to much time but i have to say it all looked a lot different in reverse. sorry it didnt quite pan out but im glad you enjoyed your day out in very testing conditions.

Our anti-clockwise leg three started from Wasdale at about 4:20 pm and we were within 200 yards of the top of Scafell just as the rain really set in. We were in cloud, strong wind and rain all across the boulder strewn tops with the rain becoming nightmarish after Great End. And that rain, cloud and wind pretty much stayed with us from there to when we pulled the plug at Threlkeld at 5:20 on Sunday morning. Our problem at Threlkeld was that we would have had to have got around Blencathra, Great Calva and Skiddaw in 3.5 hours. No amount of manning up and going for it at that point would have got us there

I was the one in full water proofs, with OMM rucksack and very bright head torch, emmmmm!!! That probably don’t narrow it down much , OK I was the tall guy who waited at the gate for you and Roy and we ran down the road together to the finish of the Leg.

Stolly and Gav’ give us a shout when you are ready to go again and I will see if I can rustle up a car full of Scottish BG supporters again to give a hand, Oh and if the weather is looking poor don’t worry about us postpone and we will do our own thing then do our best to work in with your new plans.

I'm sure this has been answered before but why go in June? It is a reliably wet month and while you get longer days May and April seem to get the better weather for rounds.

Almost everyone had same blue jackets and omm rucksacks on, must be your club thing Yes, I remember you and the other person at the gate who didn't wear gloves at all :w00t:. I wish I had hands like him. :closed:

Personally I don't think you can work it out like that. We were aiming for a three day recce of the entire BGR route starting on the 10th May and we had to alter our plans on the first day because the weather was so atrocious. We managed the next two days but it wasn't pleasant. Stef F was originally planning her BG for then but called it off and went on the 7/8 June and had fabulous weather. Just one example of how you can't predict what weather you'll get. I don't think the weather in April was anything to celebrate about this year either!

Thanks all for great company and intent on leg 4; no doubt in my mind that Stolly and Gavin will make it next time. Both were impressively strong up Seat Sandal, Fairfield and Dollywaggon. Thanks for having me along.

This is something I stumbled upon a while back.... I'd never heard of weather singularities, but I'm amazed how common and regular they are.
