It looked a lot worse yesterday! Although it has improved I've kind of got used to running in hot conditions recently. Never done Borrowdale is there much water on route?

Plenty of water on the corridor and I would think coming down to Honister. After Dale Head I probably won't be looking for water but there should be plenty on the run in if needed.

Link to a ( Go-Pro ) video I took today on Bessyboot. Sorry only the leaders and the first half of the field.
Jebby's ( tongue in cheek ) comment as he passed through in Ricky's wake " Was he looking tired ! "

Congratulations Manhar-wear that T-shirt with pride.

    Re: Borrowdale Fell Race 2012

    Cheers Barry.

Yes, yes, yes still have that warm afterglow from yesterdays race where the legs may ache but you know everything is ok with the world this morning. Must admit being one of the backmarkers on the way to Bessyboot was wondering if I'd post another Dnf & maybe me & Borrowdalw just wasn't meant to be. Having memorised Alf's splits looked at my watch at the cp - 52 mins & immediatley this gave me a massive boost. Did seem to walk more than run on the way to Esk hause but still maintained a 5 minute gap on the alloted split time. Did consider running down the scree off the pike but backtracked to the col as this was the only section where the clag was down & it looked dodgy.

Got to the top of Gable, looked at my watch - 40 mins to get to Honister - I knew baring any mishap now I was going to make the cut off. Scrambled down the boulders - 1 runner in front swung to the right onto a grassy section before cutting back towards the tourist path - is this a faster line ? Dropping into Honister may or may not (probably not) taken the best line to get to the buildings - 1 or 2 scrambles down 1 or 2 small drops - made the cut of with 3 or 4 mins to spare & told Scoffer my legs were still working !

Staggered up Dalehead, minced down to the tarn, tip toed through the quarry and straight through the water when I got to the river. Coming into the finish for a slightly funny brief moment I did think the majority of the applause was for me but then reality kicked in - the presentations were taking place - oh well you can't have it all.

Thank you to my fellow backmarkers & Yo Lefty ! Right I'm of to Sainsburys when it open...

    Staggered up Dalehead..

Great effort Mahar your form is starting to come now.

But I can assure you there will never be a Stagger on the Borrowdale race.
