    Re: todays courgettes

No courgettes for me but, for the first time ever a full sized strawberry! My mini ones do quite well but this is the first year I have had any on the other strawberry plant. Its only 1, but it was yummy.

Oh, never tried that before. I have a couple from the garden sat in the kitchen right now. One shall be stuffed, the biggest one, the smaller one will be made into a salad.

In addition to the normal meals, we do a nice side salad where you peel them into strips with a potato peeler, then add a little lemon juice. Tasty!

I use a super soaker, works a treat! Must get myself a Moley cardboard cutout for re-inforcement when I am not lying around with the super soaker though, good idea

The tally for this summer is 218, not a record but enough to keep me well fed . They are finished now and I'm already missing them!
Freezer full of beans, peas, etc. and now starting to eat the leeks and winter greens, which look great - we've had a frost so the flavour is good. Not a bad year for veg all round and the Missus has today made some bilberry jam (very nice) from a couple of kilos we picked a few weeks ago (been in freezer since).

This spring we planted a pear, an apple, plum and a medlar tree, try to add some more each year. In a few years I may swap you a bag of medlars for some walnuts, medlar make yummy jam.

We still have the Quail, though one of them now lives in the sitting room every evening - so we have two tortoises and a Quail running about the floor every night.
Not sure how the Missus has managed to get round me with this, but who am I to complain!
