Last year, last descent was flagged from the old mines. A lot went wrong right near the bottom where the route goes left and it feels like you need to go straight on. I assume this year they will sort that out.

Records will definitely go this year !
I was talking about a recce. I'll be disappointed if I'm not towards the front of that.

Didn't want to go wandering through a farmer's field by mistake.

Fairly straight forward, grassy not rocky, starts fairly shallow, steepens quickly, after about 400/500ft it shallows out to become runnable for the top - mid packers.
It will be a quick one for the top guys and gals.

Major roadworks started on the A590 at Greenodd this week - a traffic roundabout is being built at the A590 / A5092 junction.
Severe delays (up to an hour and a half at times) have been reported over the past few days.
If you are planning to use this route to travel to the race on Saturday, allow extra time and / or use an alternative.

    Re: Turner Landscape

Runners coming to Turner Landscape from the south face long delays due to the construction of a roundabout at junction of A590 and A5092 at Greenodd - these have been up to an hour during the week!
They can be avoided by taking the minor road R off the A590, about a mile before Greenodd , which comes out by the Royal Oak at Spark Bridge. Take it with care as locals will be racing through there or dial plenty of time in to your journey.

If there's a long queue for the roadworks though, you'll be queueing long before you reach the Spark Bridge turn off.

Other alternatives would be to go via Ambleside/Coniston or even Little Langdale and over Wrynose. Both are roundabout routes but unlikely to add an hour onto your journey.

I've also seen on Twitter that inov8 will also have a stand there giving out free stuff as well. (No I don't work for them, but thought some people might like to know that)
