Thread: Overweight to Raceweight goal

Just day to day, at home and work etc my energy levels feel fine, if anything I've started feeling better. But training I do feel more tired than ususal, I did an 8.5km run on saturday and a 15km mountain bike yesterday and felt tired on both right from the start.

They (Noakes and the guy who did my plan) say it takes about 3 weeks before the body starts burning fat/ketones as a preference during exercise, though ketosis starts earlier. Noakes also says for athletes training regularly the sweet spot for carbs is between 25g and 200g a day - but everyone is different so you need to experiment. My objective is primarily fat loss so I'm keeping the carbs to a bare minimum and putting up with feeling tired during exercise.

It doesn't feel like a hard diet to stick to so far, there's plenty of variation in the stuff you can eat, and eating lots of fats/proteins keeps you feeling full as opposed to a calorie restricted diet where you (or at least I) feel hungry all of the time.

I think I replaced forum time with snacking time, or that's my excuse for picking up a couple of pounds recently

I have been on a modified Paleo diet for 8 months, the first 2/3 weeks I did feel lacking on runs but got over it, my technique was to stick to the high carb diet but for 2 days before a big BG training run 6 hours plus I would swap to high carbs then back to high protein/good fats/fruit/veg’.

    Worked for me.

I have been 160 to 161lb every Friday for the last 4 weeks so I've been more than happy with my eleven and a half stone.
Don't think I will hit my target of sub 158 but hey I haven't been this light since I before I left school (1978)
    Well pleased.
Done 5:2 diet for 14 months now. Proof it does work.

Well I've let myself go - my weight's now back up to 78.9kg and body fat percentage 19.4%.

Target for this year: 70kg and body fat <10%
