firstly the field had mixed live stock in that would have caused a big head ache to move but mainly the descent to the bottom gate is now heavily eroded, it's causing a drain pipe effect and directing water straight through the gate. The walls either side have become undermined and they have become unsafe. the local landowner has been very approachable and open to other routes.
Other races that use the same descent will be probably rerouted for the same reasons.
next years route change which I'll leave to IanF to confirm sounds really good with no tarmac and steep runnable grass/heather.
