I was using Strava for over 5 hrs on the Daz Holloway race and my Android phone showed just less than 50% of battery power left at the end. Runkeeper has an autopause but as Stolly says it is useless off road as the thing was often saying I was not moving. So I turned off that functionality. Stefan in Pennine was commenting about the autopause on his Garmin and Wardy showed him how to turn it off, I belive it was a watch settng rather than a Strava setting but I may be wrong.

    EDIT

Looks like it is a Garmin setting.

Thanks No map.Interesting about the lifetime- when I tried strava app, I did not appear to get that long on an I4. . I have an "IDRY" - which is bulky and heavy but does protect the corners, and because of raised edges the screen is somewhat protected too.

On the garmins you set a threshold speed at which it declares no motion, which I have set at 0.5 mph for running and 3mph for the bike in order to ensure that road crossing/ traffic lights etc are not counted. Seems to work pretty well, and even on fell the running time and elapsed time are very little different: problems can occur when GPS is lost, (like round mickledore) which the GPS sees as zero motion, then rapid motion. I have never seen a similar parameter on strava.

Obviously you need to make sure your phone is fully charged and that wifi and bluetooth are switched off. I use an e-case which keeps water out but would be useless if you fell on a rock and I can certify that it will not stop your screen smashing if it flies off the roof of a car at 50mph! I've only had a significant moving time issue once, on this years Borrowdale, where it lost half an hour, probably due to GPS signal problems coming down the scree chute and maybe on parts of Gable.

I'm still completely obsessed with Strava. To the point where I want to be the KOM/hold the CR on all the segments that a local to where I live. I have most of them, although I recently lost a half mile road section by 13 seconds. I'll be retaking that back soon thankyou very much.
I kept loosing another segment close to home, so did the half mile segment at sub 5 min/mile pace and made sure I concreted my name at the top. HAVE THAT!

    Should I seek help?

Stolly is right though about loosing the chance to manually enter the amount of climbing you've put in. Frustrating indeed!

Most of my PBs are where the phone's GPS signal went mad (I have the world 400m record by a good 30s )I wish there was a way of deleting them without deleting the whole activity.

I only signed up to Strava yesterday, it looks brilliant. I'm right down the bottom of most tables for segments I've run, but, I hold KoM for running up a Volcano at the side of the FV-1 highway in Fuerteventure!

Admittedly I'm the only person to have gone up it and logged it, but hey ho.

Is there an FRA club then? I'll have a read through this thread properly and join if there is.

If all else fails there is always digital epo.
(yes it is for real digitalepo.com can "improve" your times a little!)
It is cheaper than the real stuff!

I Spend a lot of time on Strava also. I like to see where other people have been running and sometimes it motivates me to get out if a couple of folks I know have been out training.

I agree that the 'moving time' part is misleading and I would rather the overall time was shown first with the moving time in small print or just an optional extra.

I like how it's now linked in with instagram so I can see photos from peoples running. A nice touch.

I tried the Strava premium free trial and liked the goal setting part to it, but it seemed like there was more options for cycling on the premium.

As long as I can see where I've been and how far, up and down it'll be OK.

You can report a time to the admins on strava and they will take it off the leader board of you feel too guilty!

I am a self confessed strava addict, but there are not that many segment opportunities on the fells, certainly less than road running and many many times less than road biking!
