Kenny Stuarts record is impressive a minute and half quicker than roadrunner on the way up and a minute and a half on the way back down. 22 and a half minutes for the descent is a bit quick.

I thought the record used to train track, one reason why people doubt the record will ever fall. Not definate, though.

For once I agree with much of what YT has wrote. Regarding selection, well thats the beauty of selection. I was selected but couldn't commit to the race 9 weeks before the event. I had entered myself anyway so it made no difference to me. If it was ever going to be turely international, then surely it needs some good international runners? Italians, French, Austians etc. Make it more like a grand prix race out in Europe with good prize money and then therefore more chance of attracting more international runners.

I totally agree with Roadrunner,
the standard of the international field has become poor,in 2004 i ran 1:11,30 and was not even in the top 20 finishers and that year there was a prize money of 1000 euros for the winner and also cash prizes for all podium finishers.
the prizes are pretty poor for a race of this calibre which is a shame because i think its the best orginised mountain/fell race that we have in Britain

ROADRUNNER . do you think with perfect conditions ect ect , kenny stuarts 1985 record could be beaten ?

Nobody ever seems to mention Mark Kinch's effort in 1995, missed the record by about 30 seconds...........was that on the newer route aswell??

Back page of the local paper was pretty impressive today, not 100% sure if you are MW Lightfeet but anyway if you were you made the back page headlines......."a touch of glass" being the headline, 3 times and all that.......
