Anyone planning a recce of the Trog (or Midgley Moor race, or pretty much any fell race in the area covered) may find this book handy http://www.westyorkshiremoors.co.uk/ It's a lovely book, and it shows up those little trods that the OS map misses (and that in some races may prove quite handy!).

I won't accept these maps as your race map mind ;-)

Hi All,

I've just realised that in switching from a bespoke form to the standard FRA one, I've missed including the information about the cut offs in race information. It will be added to the CVFR website shortly. The cut offs are:
CP3 Cock Hill Last runner must be through by 12:00
CP11 Cock Hill (return) Last runner must be through by 14:00

If you've already entered, were unaware of these cut offs, and don't think you'll make it round in time, just let me know and I'll be happy to tear up your cheque and disregard your entry. Just let me know asap.

Obviously, if on the day you are asked to retire at the cut offs, then you must do so and you must return to race HQ to return your race number.

If you're thinking about entering the Trog, stop thinking about it and get your entry in the post! I've had a bumper crop of entries, and if they keep arriving at their current rate the race will be full before the closing date. You have been warned!

Please Please Please can you try and car share when coming to this race? It is parking that means we have to limit race numbers, and this is the first year we have been so full. I don't want to give anyone any cause to ask us to reduce numbers in future years, so if as many of you as possible can share cars this would be very helpful. There's plenty of free parking at Mytholmroyd Community Centre if you're looking for somewhere local you can meet up before squeezing into a car together and heading up to Old Town!

Right folks, the (hopefully) final start list is below. Do still let me know if you can't run though as I haven't managed to get everyone off the waiting list a run.

The current weather forecast is pretty grim. Please can I remind everyone that this is a Category B Long race so is subject to the new mandatory FRA kit requirements of waterproof top with hood, waterproof trousers, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle & emergency food. Please don't turn up to run without this kit as a minimum, as you will not be allowed to run.

One runner has already been honest enough to pull out because his new waterproof trousers won't be delivered before the Trog please follow his example and don't try to get away with less kit than we're asking for.

Here is the Met Office report for Boulsworth Hill (which is more likely to get the the Trog weather than Hebden)
