There was also a chap taking photos as we ran along the track after the descent from Stoodley Pike, strategically positioned by a big puddle! I don;t know who he was or if the photos are available, anyone?

Very disappointed to hear that some runners behaved rather poorly at the Hinchcliff Arms in Cragg Vale. The landlord is now inclined to withdraw his invaluable support and goodwill. Can't say I blame him either.
1100 runners...I guess you're always going to get a couple of jerks. I doubt they will be reading this (I expect they are road runners).

To the knobheads who ignored all the signs about using the toilets provided and not the walls and gardens of Blackshaw Head....cheers. Thanks for that. We spend a lot of time and effort building good relations with the community.

Aye up Rob. Thing is, the leg 4 finish at Wainstalls is the most exposed spot and is marshalled by runners who have already run leg 1....into a headwind and the rain. Bear in mind that they have to hang around for the slowest runners on your leg who will have rolled in about an hour and a half after you. Well done though.... 1hr 13 is seriously quick for that (the toughest, I think) leg. You should have come to say hello...I was the fella with the camera at changeover (at Blackshaw Head).

I appreciate all that manothemoors, and I'm not really complaining. Just seems odd that the next leg cut off is more generous is my point. Anyway not to worry. Still happy with our team and our performance, and they all enjoyed it with the exception of our leg 4 ladies who had to drop out after one of them burst a hamstring.

OK, please read this from the RO

THIS EMAIL HAS BEEN SENT TO ALL CAPTAINS OF TEAMS THAT RAN IN THE RACE, THE FELL RUNNING ASSOCIATION AND RESIDENTS OF CRAGG VALE

I am sorry to have to inform you that following the Calderdale Way Relay we have received a significant number of complaints from residents of Cragg Vale, this is the start point for leg 2 of the race.

The complaints are numerous and include rudeness and inconsiderate behaviour to residents from runners, illegal and inconsiderate car parking, the opening of gates allowing lambs to escape and one runner thumping the roof of a passing residents car.

I'm sure you will agree with us that this behaviour is totally unacceptable and whilst limited to a small number or runners it reflects very badly not only on Halifax Harriers Athletics Club but the whole fell running community in general.

We have worked hard over a number of years to build a relationship with the residents of Cragg Vale, who quite rightly have concerns over a major event on a Sunday morning. This hard work has now been undone by the actions of a few inconsiderate runners.

Fell races cannot take place without the support of landowners and local communities and the actions of a few on Sunday morning have given us a major hurdle to cross if we are going to be able to hold the event again next year.

The Harriers have organised this event for 30 years and this is the first time we have received complaints of this nature, it is very disappointing and leaves me personally dismayed.

I know that the majority of runners will act with consideration to others and I would like to ask you that if you know of any runner who caused any difficulty at Cragg Vale that you please tell them that they are not welcome at next years event.

I am sorry to have to share an email of this nature with you. We fully understand that this was the actions of a few and would appreciate your co-operation moving forward to ensure it does not happen again.
