My thanks to the organisers and all the marshalls and the weather gods. It was persisting it down on the M6 going back after the race.

We were lucky today, the rain held off and route choice wasn't an issue with the clear summits. As for the race, what a toughie. On the climb up Clough Head I was cursing my busy week of races, I felt goosed. Slowly got into some sort of rhythm and tackled what seemed like climb after climb. This race really is one hell of a long roller coaster. On the descent of Clough Head my legs were screaming until Mr Winskill pulled up alongside and being in good company took my mind off my aching pins. Phil was treating the race as a training run otherwise a runner of his class would of been well away. Hope Andrew Slattery is ok, he took a tumble coming off the Clough but dug in to cross the finish line battered and bloody. Thanks to all involved for a cracking tough race.

Just a bit sore thanks Darren, think I might've cracked a rib so I won't make it three this weekend after all. Stupid no-need fall 100m from the road! Good luck.

Ouch Andrew that sounds uncomfortable. With the last few weeks you've had...Fellsman, OCT, this that and the other, you've more than earned a rest....Take care.

Very impressive turnout today by the lads and lasses of Calder Valley, at least 20 ran with it being one of their club champ races. Not exactly on the door step for you guys...top effort.

I agree with Tindersticks. Fantastic but tough race. Great views, great weather, lovely marshalls and an amazing run from Hazel-well done !!!. Even had long sections when everyone spread out and you had the world to yourself. Fantastic-loved it....The girl who ran round with the dog was naughty though as she was clearly told it was a hazard to other runners and against FRA rules but didn't seem bothered. Didn't sees anyone try to turn her back despite several marshalls being told and the dog clearly causing havock with faster runners returning down and having to dodge round a terrier on the loose on the footpath!!!!!....Hope Slats is OK. Bad luck but still a great time . Cheers everyone for a classic day out

Not one of my best performances yesterday. Retired at Clough Head when I realised my cold wasn't fully gone. I have no doubt I made the right decision, many more races to be run. A bit of fun with the marshall at the CP when he reported back to base. "140 runners through, 1 retirement, Horwich lady no.27, she's making her own way back, not injured - just bone-idle!!!" :-D I returned my number, saw the winner cross the line then shouted folk on from the gate at the top of the road. Having done the race last year, I can totally appreciate what you guys were going through at this point, the blisters, cramp etc! A fantastic day out, though not the one I was expecting. Darren...you showed no hint of Hutton Roof in your legs, let alone OCT & Glaramara! Amazing!

Thanks. It would be good to catch up with Dave. (In the professional/social sense - I was probably the last V50 yesterday so there won't be any other kind of catching up. I didn't even beat the dog.)

In other news, someone was taking photos of the runners at the Helvellyn trig. Does anyone know if they're going to be published somewhere?

We flew over overhead on our way home from Jura and the race was in full swing. Looked brilliant from above!
