The Armstrong Lie - I knew most of the background through reading the forum
I thought Danny DeVito was doing the commentary initially as Alex Gibney sounds a lot like him.
Not a very nice chap Mr Armstrong and not just because of the doping.

I won't give the plot away, but it was nothing to do with his gear ratios....

    Good film.

    Insidious 2.

Yaaaaaaaaaawn. Typical James Wan (Insidious, the Conjuring), lots of malevolent ghosts and those moment where they suddenly appear blah blah blah. After the original Saw, he has done a lot of cashing in...though in fairness it's been a lot of cash...

I watched 'Gladiator' again tonight. I needed a bit of inspiration after trashing my calf muscle yesterday on a very easy run

    Selfish Giant last night
very well directed and superbly acted by the two main boys (no previous acting experience)
quite a tough watch though - not really one for a romantic night in or if you want cheering up/entertaining

    Under the Skin,
which I have just seen (starring Scarlett Johansson), was described by The Daily Telegraph as "straightforwardly a masterpiece".

That may be pitching it a bit high but it is certainly a film like no other and one to linger in the memory although one must not miss the opening 5 minutes, the last couple of minutes are stunning and you need to be conscious of the film's title throughout the intermediate 100 minutes.

We who live near to the National Media Museum (in Bradford) are fortunate to have a cinema nearby that will show movies without regard to popular appeal and in perfect viewing conditions. Under the Skin yesterday was shown in the IMAX auditorium.
I finally got round to watching this film. After reading Michel Faber's novel (now cult novel) over 10 years ago now I always expected it to get to film eventually. A very very loose adaptation of the novel would describe it best. The message behind the film, as I interprate it, compared with the book is a different one too. Having said that the film is very good indeed and talk of it becoming a cult classic in the years to come is entirely justified. I would recommend reading the novel after seeing the film as it may clear up any general questions you have and actually provide you with an extra storyline.
