Interesting to hear what's going on in N. Wales. The south doesn't seem to be hugely better off in terms of entrants to the classic fell races, compared to 350-odd in Trail Marathon Wales and 390 in the half....but then do we have unusually high expectations: are the Lakes races freakishly popular?
Sorry for being slightly off-topic here; I missed the race due to family commitments but I've pencilled in a day in a few weeks to run the route. Am I correct in saying the start and finish are at the summit of either Snowdon (if travelling S-N) or Foel Fras (N-S), which is the more 'aesthetic' direction? I was surprised not to find details on the excellent gofar website, has anyone got a GPS track they could share please?
No the race is from valley to valley... The 3000ers as a challenge is peak to peak... I prefer snowdon to foel fras as it's quicker but have done both..

Sorry, I was referring to the classic 3000s challenge route. It's been said on another thread, but concept of beginning on a peak rather than in the valley does seem odd - although the quirks of these things are part of the charm. The only feedback we had from our marshals re Foel Fras race was...
"They positioned themselves by the wall a bit to the north of us beyond the summit rocks so maybe that's why we didn't see any runners. To be honest, once we had the initial greetings and chat we never had any other interaction with them. Only gripe was the running engine of that bloody vehicle they had!"
The Foel Fras marshals had driven up to the summit. It's a shame the organisres felt niggled by us, we certainly arent a big company and Im local, this is the first year where the majority of the runners havent stayed at my house.

I wouldn't worry.. The Moel Eilio race has had it off them in the past..
It's odd about allegations of a mass company event.. as I said one of the committee co-runs an online event entry system so gets money from far bigger events than yours, another runs a guiding company and works on many charity events.. which are mass companies.. As I've said before the anti-commercial use of the hills in fell running is odd as it betrays the very routes of the sport.. as long as its sustainable, ethical, safe use, why should it be an issue..
Its all very odd how they can single V3K out.. but this is how they act, they attack like this rather than just giving a call or having a chat.
Good turn out for V3K.. for a non-championship event a fell race in Wales rarely gets those numbers and it should continue to grow.
There's also this new Snowdonia 50 miler to be held in North Wales later this year so with this, the V3K, the endurance life and the RoF North Wales is finally developing an ultra scene which is great to see… Its not like the V3K is directly competing with any Eryri race so it should be welcomed.
Not good.. there will be resistance to sky running.. and this won't help.
