Could not give an exact month I would imagine it would be well late. It takes quite a while for the heather and bracken to get strong. You would probably be OK into May time.

This year it wasnt doable right at the beginning of June. I did one on May 18 it was just manageable.

Out of interest, is there a track that follows a complete circuit of the kinder plateau? I've done the dozen a few years ago but have been meaning to do a much easier run around the edge for years and have never got around to it.

Yes Mark. I've done it a few times. From memory a climb of Grindsbrook from the Nag's, a circuit plus getting back down is c 17 miles. Scarpa Bionics, Ron Hills, red wooly socks and a bright purple Karrimor fleece (when Karrimor was a proper brand) are optional. As is trying to buy a pint in the Nag's after your circuit for less than two quid

Yes there is but avoid the masses and come in from the north, Up Blackden for prettiness or up from Rowlee bridge. much quieter.

I met my brother t'other day for lunch in the South Yorkshire / Derbyshire border area. I said to the waitress have you got any beer and she started a long list with Farmers Blonde. I said two of them please. We've got a mate who's involved with MR blah, blah, blah. Beer was ace!
