It shows my dedication to the sport (and my competitive urge to cheat fairly) that I eat beetroots before races despite not liking them.

Mrs Noel likes beetroot so happily eats 4 or 5 before a race.

I've got a prescription inhaler which i rely heavily on when i'm in need of a boost. I do actually get exercise induced asthma, but TBH i'm just a gearhead with an excuse that i stick to religiously.

What is beetroot meant to do?
I love beetroot and we have some in the fridge now, if I have a beetroot sandwich for lunch tomorrow will I run faster? Or has it got to be juice?
I can eat bowls of the stuff, certainly clears the old bowels out, is that what makes you run faster?

I love beetroot but this makes me ill, You can mix it with orange juice but certainly good for the blood/oxygen uptake.

The nitrates within are supposed to act upon the blood vessels making the blood flow easier. In my opinion it's just one of those things people latch on to for a while in the hope of 'Lance Armstrong' or 'EPO Mo' type effects. When it doesn't happen like that they quickly give up.

What? You mean cycling is not completely clean now? I thought it was all that nasty Mr Armstrong bullying others into it.
