Yes well done guys for spotting it Wansfell 2014 is definitely ON ( weather permitting). I can confirm that it is on Sunday 28th December with registration, some parking, toilets, showers, refreshments, bar and prizegiving at Ambleside rugby club.12 noon start from the back of the Salutation hotel. The old Kelsick school has now been sold and therefore we had no parking up there and we felt the time had probably come to offer a few more luxuries ( like toilets!!!) and give everyone some refreshments afterwards. The entry fee has gone up to £5 to reflect this ( apologies to all you purists who preferred £1 , changing in car and weeing behind a tree). A day later will suit some but not others but hey...The sales will be on and the good shop keepers of Ambleside will gladly take your money as you wander through town back to the club. Looking forward to seeing you there at possibly the 41st running of the race. Cheers. Maggie. Ps Santa hats, tinsel and inflatable suits not compulsory but encouraged MM

Please spread the word: Registration for the Wansfell Race will close at 11.40am prompt at Ambleside Rugby Club in order to give all competitors sufficient time to get to the start (10-15 min walk) and to enable race organisers to do a head count at the start at approx. 11.55. Please don't leave it too late-you will be denied entry.

Hi Trevor, currently up here in Ambleside for a couple of days and there isn't a drop of snow on the roads or pavements. And by the looks of it when we arrived mid afternoon there's very little up wansfell.

Its beautiful! A nice sprinkling of snow on the summit and quite a bit on the tops all around. Sunshine today and apart from a tad slippery on the descent the conditions were pretty perfect. Its going to freeze tonight so fingers crossed for a dry, bright day

If it snows heavily overnight and we have to change thing I will post here before 9 am. At the moment the biggest hazard is the traffic in Ambleside!!

Thanks to Cath and her team of helper for putting on this little beauty of a race.

Will be back to have a proper crack when I'm a better descender.
