I was thinking about the climb out of Upper Booth on the PW which on the map I have looks to be about 250' and how to avoid it by dropping down and contouring across to Edale station or thereabouts ? I am glad they are starting the race 30 minutes earlier now as I might have had to run for my train back otherwise

There is a lower path from Barber Booth that leads you to that field that is used as a Carpark for the Edale Skyline.
Part of that route is a permissive path so you will not see a path the whole way on the map.

You would then endup coming down the ramp from the Train station carpark and have to go back up the road a bit.
