If walking's allowed to count on this thread then....

Yesterday: 12 miles moderate walking mostly over very wet typal North Pennine terrain in and around Teesdale -Langdon Beck/High Force area - a couple of cracking stream crossings

Today: 7.5 miles - Cauldron Snout/Widdybank Fell including section of Pennine way with some scree crossing and scramble up the side of waterfall.

50 mins very slow up to cock hill trig point above glossop late afternoon. Then it started to snow and is still snowing now in Glossop. Must be 5 or 6 inches - lovely

    Week commencing 15th Jan

    Monday
    am 55mins
    with Pete
    pm 49mins

    Tue
    am 43mins
    pm 8 x 600m, 200m jog recovery (about 1min).
Session with Pete, Steve Vernon and Andy Caine. We did it as a "train" starting in single file and switching positions each rep. Kept it very steady, 1:44 was our quickest rep. Felt very very good.

    Wed
    am 36mins
    pm 1hr17mins.
    Tired today.

    Thu
    am 50mins
with Pete in horrendously windy conditions. Trees and fences coming down, power cuts and slates coming off roofs!
pm 10min tempo (5:05/mile), 2min jog, 2 miles on the track running straights in 15-16secs and jogging bends, 2min jog, another 10min tempo (5:05 first mile, 4:55 second mile). Bit of a variation on the normal tempo, really enjoyable. Did it with Pete and Steve.

    Fri
    am 42mins
    pm 49mins

    Sat
    am 1hr12mins.
Did this run in Heaton Park to get a feel for the course the Northerns will be held on next weekend. Saw loads of people training there - Stokes, Raven, Barnes, Jones, Ward plus groups from Sale, Salford, Trafford and East Cheshire.
    pm 43mins. Felt good.

    Sun
    2 hours
from Pete and Steves house. Hit a rough patch after about 70mins where I felt my energy levels dip quite quickly which lasted for around 20mins. Often get this in the early stages of my marathon training as I try to train my body to burn fuel efficiently by going straight out of the door without breakfast.

    Weekly Mileage: 114

    Re: Todays Training

Bizarre extra "training" session just now. My mum phoned to say she had to ditch the car on Carmeadow ( steep hill coming out of hayfield towards Glossop) because of the snow which is probably about 6 inches now

So I donned my gear again, hot flask and spare hat and gloves in rucksack and set off running up chunal to meet her - International Rescue ajohns style

    Quite enjoyed it actually

18 and a bit miles including the Three Forts 1/2 marathon course; glorious weather (as in sun and clear skies with a briskish westerly...none of your snow nonsense down here).

    Cheers - Raymond
