I don't find the Facebook group anywhere near as useful as the forum. The Facebook Group is just a random dumping ground of stuff, where as here the topics are reasonably well organised into groups, so the bits that I'm not interested in - Bob Graham rounds, long distance stuff I can just ignore.

The Shropshire Fellrunning group is good. Relatively low traffic, but not much chaff to wade through. And no one asks what shoes to buy!

That's exactly the reason I don't do facebook.

Let's keep the FRA forum alive :-)

I agree with Dom about Facebook groups and like the idea of having different sections on the Forum but I do prefer Facebook for other reasons. If only I could have a FRA app on my phone that would be great.

Yeah I agree about the FRA facebook group, which I sort of follow but rarely use, but there are literally loads of great facebook groups - obviously not directly all to do with fell running but many are inter-linked. I'd say that at least 70% of my 'friends' on facebook are absolutely linked to running in the hills so my facebook status is basically a swamp of fell and trail running related 'stuff'. If you add on gubbins from groups like the LL100, the BG group, Settle Harriers, We love the yorkshire dales, I love the lake district, the Fellsman etc etc facebook suddenly really comes into its own. I'm certain that my stuff on there must look weird, particularly to friends like Hester's mum and Hester's mum's sister but, when viewed from my end, my posts are in reality small beer to what seems to be going on with everyone else.

This is why the forum can sometimes feel a bit stodgy in comparison. Also you don't (or rarely get) arguments on facebook

Facebook is now a joke, at least on the forum you don't get 40% of the screen clogged up with adverts and most of your ram clogged up with that and other crap. As for the lack of characters, the forum community has been responsible for driving away quite a few. Posters like Carlos, CL, Auntiesally have all been hounded a bit in the past and i miss them now. I actually regret not taking Auntie's slavver with a pinch of salt, the silence of his absence is worse. Others have left because of bickering i feel, it's been a rough few years with metrication and the safety issue causing fights. The demise of XOTF concerns me a bit too.

Maybe we are getting close to having discussed most things worth discussing. With new races cropping up I suppose it keeps it ticking over a bit, that and a bit of repetition here and there keeps a bit of interest. Fell running briefs on Twitter seams to be a better place to discover results too. Even though I've tried to resist becoming a Tweeter.

    I suppose There's always cramp to discuss, that's never had a consensus.😀
