Ian, I decided to leave this sort of thing to younger runners!

The trigger is nearly upon us. I went up Lawrence Edge yesterday, there is significant work on going as you leave Torside reservoir which means the stile below the edge to get over the wall is blocked so run up track 50m to the left and run back down lane, do not climb the wall before the works as this is Private land.

forecast is looking reasonable but possibly much colder than of late with Snow a possibility!!

    please come properly prepared.

    Below is MINIMUM kit list

Full waterproof jacket and trousers (with taped seams)

    shoes suitable for fell running

long sleeved top (You can wear this but I would suggest having a spare top)

head torch (Phone torch is not suitable)

    emergency survival bag or blanket

    hat and gloves

map of route (the Dark Peak map OL1 which just excludes Marsden is acceptable)

    compass (Silva / Recta type)

    whistle

    emergency food

    Good luck all

I hope this is mentioned in the race briefing, or that there's someone there to make sure people don't scale the wall. You know what fell-runners can be like...

I think it unlikely anyone would be tempted to try it - with the exception of where the wall stile is, it has barbed wire running along the top.

Staying in Marsden tonight, after a very gloomy afternoon passing time in Huddersfield.

Why is it I train hard for weeks and weeks, and feel great, and 24 hours before my longest race so far, I come down with a heavy cold and feel awful! Well I'll not make excuses, I've put the training in, had my nutritious pre-race meal (fish & chips), so I'm ready to give it my best shot.

Long race with heavy cold? not wise!

Nic I'll mention it to Brent the RO but there is also a 10ft Wire fence around most of it.
