If you go to the races section of the FRA site you'll find a number of suitable races in October and November.
Thanks again fellas
Best get my FRA membership form sent off now then, very exciting, hopefully stay injury free, get back in shape, and recapture my former glory!
Cheers
Ian
I managed it - Sedbergh Hills 14 mile AL and Chipping 8 mile AM - off not enough training. I think if you are sensible, you'll be OK.
http://forum.fellrunner.org.uk/showthread.php?t=2409 on the website gives you another option which I am told is an AM.
Physio Ian,
Myself and a few others will be going up to do a few reccies before the race next year. I too had come from the road and ran it for the first time last year off the back of 2 qualifying races. These were both AM races and I also did a couple of reccies of the course. I struggled like mad on race day and wished I had done some AL races, which I think will better prepare anyone for this race. I have done quite a few long, hard races on the road and found this to be the hardest thing i've ever done. As someone described before, the climb up Whernside was horrendous and I too got terrible cramp.
If you fancy a good AL to prepare you for this race and more importantly get you a qualifying race, do the Peris Horseshoe next Saturday in Llanberis.
The Peris entry form asks you to list recent experience in class AL races!
Went up yesterday for a blast, weather was absolutely brilliant. Will be up there again next month.
