On the contrary it is Farage that doesn't understand what Boris' deal means. Personally I think he's lost the plot. His opposition to it is more to do with his bruised ego rather than any legitimate criticism of the deal.

I think Boris should make Nigel a life peer, tell him he has done a good job but that now is the time for him to go off to pontificate in the House Of Lords where nobody need take any notice of him.
