There is no truth in the 130000 it was a myth of false statistics fabricated by medical people who should know better but let their politics trump their judgement, in a quest to pretend only NHS matters!

The entire argument was based on death rate gradient, that flattened out.

Tell me: if austerity killed , how is it all but a few of the causes are still in decline on stats, eg cancer as medicine improves,( or were in decline at the time of that study ) only such as respiratory tract( maybe air quality?) and such as altzheimers ( ageing population) were worsening.

Rule 1 of statistics is correlation does not imply cause. But like the now Struck off professor Roy meadows, remember him? wishful thinking is often used in place of statistical argument, as it was in this case.

Second: the same methodology used in this pseudoscience also predicts that the creation of NHS killed not saved, looking at death rate decline rate, and the rot set in before 2007 : how so , if it was supposed austerity?

The people who created the pseudoscience decided their answer, austerity kills, then tried to backwork evidence for their conclusion, which is and was utter nonsense. It also damaged the credibility of the socialist medics that tried to promote it.

The study admitted it didn’t look at causality so admitted it was worthless!

Since then it is a myth repeated so often it gained the status of fact.

It is possible there was some kernel of truth somewhere if they had used actual science, but that study discredited the line of research not enhanced it.

But yes, people will die early. You cannot turn an economy off and devote all resources to nhs, and still hope to feed and clothe the population down the track. The cost of this will be reduced not increased social care. An economy can only generate so much wealth. You cannot spend what you don’t have forever. Ask Venezuela.

USA only manages it because of the dollar oil hegemony. Without which the dollar would collapse. It’s also why my view US launched wars to preserve the hegemony.

I do trust the Government and Boris, and I'm following the guidelines. But I do think we've just slightly over reacted.

I've been inundated for the last few years with memes claiming Tory austerity killed 130,000. If there is any truth in this, then how many deaths will a 10-20% crash in the GDP of the UK and the aftermath cause regardless of CV?

I just hope they resist pressure to go further. The current restrictions are in my opinion far enough.
