Another issue with bluetooth is the sheer distance at which it works.

For example i can lay my phone on the floor in the front corner of the gym, and it will still pick up my wireless headphones if i am out the back in the toilet/changing/boxing areas.

At home, i can leave my phone on a chair in the back garden and go and do a treadmill session in the front garage with no issues...

Last week we had Severn Trent in the street fixing a leak/crack. They were certainly within Bluetooth range for about 5 hours, without me ever being within about 15 metres of them (indeed i didn't even leave the house that day)

But if one of them tested/diagnosed as positive, would using the app then mean i am expected to isolate...

From an outside (and decidedly non-expert) viewpoint, the whole scheme seems riddled with potential errors. I'll refrain from posting anything contentious about the NHS and my thoughts on their chances of actually producing a working App...

I think it's quite worrying. It's almost as if there's a "lets throw them all in" approach. Might as well be 40k as 30k fatality approach. After all who will cop the flack?

I'm at my uncle's funeral on Thursday - Covid - allegedly.

No it isnt. These numbers comparison are not based on the same assumptions. You cant compare them.
ISTAT (italian agency) says their numbers are far higher than reported.

Even if it were true. So what? England has the densest population (of other than microstates) in europe , by a big margin. Also, our cities are bigger than any others. So the concentrations are more marked. London bigger than paris and berlin put together.

Ultimately science will discover why some populations are more prone than others.
I think a lot of the measures will prove to be a red herring. Some populations have fared better because of genetics and nurture.

I notice professor fergusson, who put Boris in impossible position by claiming hundreds of thousands of deaths without lockdown (AKA twilight meeting with other half) has resigned over distancing. I am certain it is more to do with his inability to handle the spotlight, and that his predictions have been way off.

The man who has persuaded us to lock down said sweden would end up with R of 3, and 50000 fatalities. Utterly wrong on both counts. Which I say, not to discredit the man, but to say we must treat what all the medics say with a big pinch of salt.

I think many Dutch people would resent the accusation that the Netherlands is a microstate (although if climate change leads to significant sea level rise it may become a microstate some time in the future).

Well yesterday I was very critical of his predictions and in particular relating to Sweden. So after my devastating critique I suspect he felt his position was untenable and decided he had to go.
