Yes it's an utter joke... i saw my two nephews in the flesh last week, for the first time since March.

His mum and dad told him there was a surprise in the back garden, and i was hiding round the corner. The absolute excitement when he saw me, he forgot everything he'd been told about keeping distance and came flying over for a hug. I'd have had absolutely no problem with this, but his dad flew out and 'intercepted' him before he got to me. Pretty sad really.

We had a good hour kicking a football around in the garden, playing cricket, etc. But had to make do with having a 'virtual hug' when we left.

If that is what 'normal' is now then i certainly don't want it.

They tried similar with his best friend who came round to play at the weekend. I'm told that keeping them apart was impossible and they just gave up in the end.

My youngest nephew is 8 months old and i've only held him once. He screamed the place down last week when i attempted to play with him from a safe distance... didn't recognise me...

TBH I think As grown ups there is no need to single out groups and tell them what they can and can`t do, in fact it is downright insulting to do so.

Just treat society as one and credit them with a modicum of intelligence and common sense, spell out the score and offer advice, then let the people decide how they approach the situation.

After all it is not possible to pigeon hole any specific group as not all will fit any particular mould.

I personally think that trying to remove our Basic Human Rights and Civil Liberties is tantamount to creating unrest in society generally and not just in any specific group.

We must be allowed to make our own decisions based around our own personal circumstances.

Aye John. I share the sentiment. Sadly the normal to muppet ratio is so adverse that we wouldn't stand a chance!

It seems that your boyos and girls in Wales are now getting a bit cheesed off, if the various facebook petitions and comments are anything to believed (admittedly they may well not be!!)

It did seem that the Welsh were very happy to be taking a harsher line than England... but now the tone appears to be heading distinctly in the direction of "enough is enough..."

Nope, never happy Travs. Just saw it as a thinly veiled point scoring exercise against Westminster. Total joke, the lot of 'em!

Worth listening to last night's More or Less for some interesting figures and rankings wrt current infection rates in the World and Europe. And the concept that "they were going to die soon anyway" is examined. The average 80 year old has a 9 years plus life expectancy!

    Indeed.

My mother was 97 last year and her only issue is arthritis. Her mother had a hard life but lived to be 93, she is a life long vegetarian, has never smoked etc. and is still as bright as a button - so I think it is still a bit early for me to go and order my Maserati.

Rumours doing the rounds that Gwynnedd Council are asking that all "major events" and "mass gatherings" in the national park are going to be asked to cancel this year.

Although nobody seems to know the definition of major event/mass gathering...

Whilst I take your point Mike, is it the average 80 year old being taken by the virus, or is it even with the 80+ having a greater affect on those that are below average in terms of general health?

Fell racing starts up again this weekend in the Isle Of Man!

Sadly for most of us, the borders to the Island remain closed though!

Keswick Market opened back up again today.
