Because it's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life, and I'm feeling good. (And I've just sold-down enough of my pension funds to mean that I should be able to ignore the world's stock markets for the next 2 or 3 years.)

I have said that I thought a vaccine was highly unlikely anytime soon. I really hope I am wrong! Just hope this is not "fake news" designed to calm the population. But I have always (sometimes reluctantly) believed the BBC. Silly? Moi??

    Quoting Chris Whitty from twitter:

“Preliminary news that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is effective demonstrates the power of science against COVID. We must see the final safety and efficacy data, but it is very encouraging.

It is essential we continue to suppress COVID, but it is a reason for optimism for 2021”

It’s world news wheeze, not just the BBC. The FTSE is up 5.5% on this and the election of Biden as is the Dow Jones, having not long been open. I’d say it’s pretty optimistic. The big problem now will be the logistics of getting people vaccinated and how long the vaccine provides protection for

I wonder how the bidding war will go for the vaccine, be interesting and the company will want to make the most of it before rival companies catch up.
I can foresee some tantrums when one country acquires some before another - never mind which individuals receive it.
Apparently has to be stored at -80c which could be interesting logistically and hope they warm it up before sticking the 💉 in my bum!

Mmmh. I once spent a summer working for Pfizer at their factory in Sandwich - surely ex-employees are first in line?
