12.37 miles, 3,281 feet, 3 hours 17 minutes: Fairfield c/w. In clag the whole way - visibility down to 50 paces above about 600 feet. No rain, no wind, slippery from condensation on all surfaces. Quite a few on the fell. One asked me if there was a path off Fairfield - he was about 5 feet from it. I was pleased to find all the trods again.

The cloud base was also about 600 feet on Beacon Hill when I was up there today. But the toughest part of the run was over the freshly ploughed fields on the way back.

Even walking on freshly ploughed fields is a nightmare.

Some managed to just get above the clouds on Helvellyn and Great End - superb photos.

8.16 miles, 889 feet, 1 hour 21 minutes: Skelwith - Drunken Duck loop. Initially overcast/drizzle, later sunshine and showers; gusty at times. Only saw two other people.

8.5 miles, 3,894 feet, 2 hours 53 minutes: Wansfell Pike; down/up/down/up/down to the kissing gate again, the second up on the steps. Only 5 others seen on the fell. Sunshine/clouds/no rain/no wind/no mist/not that cold. Less slippery than of late.

12.27 miles, 3,400 feet, 3 hours 14 minutes: Fairfield c/w. Mainly sunny, some clouds, the odd wintry shower and a very cold wind on top. Some ice on the rocks. Only saw four others on the fell. Town is quiet.

7 miles, 1,791 feet, 2 hours 12 minutes: Wansfell Pike. Three to four inches of snow on the top, snow line about 1,000 feet. No wind, so not cold. Very slippery - micro spikes were great on snow covered rock, but useless on snow covered grass. Four others on the fell. Roads/car parks very quiet.

7.46 miles, 2,080 feet, 2 hours 1 minute: Loughrigg trails. Blustery wind at times, almost constant drizzle, overcast. Snow/slush above about 750 feet, making it extremely slippery. Only saw five others.

7.35 miles, 3,570 feet, 2 hours 36 minutes: Wansfell Pike, including down/up/down/up/down the race descent. Sunny, no wind, no ice/snow to speak of at this level, but lots of visible snow on the higher fells. Terrain surprisingly dry. Lots on the tourist paths on the fell.

Edit: My partner tells me that town is heaving.

12.37 miles, 3,730 feet, 3 hours 38 minutes: Fairfield c/w. Totally benign conditions in the valley - dangerously wild on top - dense cloud above 2,000ft, deep snow compressed into ice on the paths, a very strong cold wind. So glad I had my micro spikes, and I knew the way. Saw about 30 or so on the fell, mainly on the way up as I was coming down. A real adventure.
