Had a super morning out. Highlight of the day?
    The STEW and bread afterwards.
Our bunch went the correct route at the end.
One or two sneaked past the HUGE piece of orange tape on the steps and went the easy way back for the last half mile or so.
    Who cares?
    Thanks to Woodhead Mountain Rescue.
Hope you made tons of money.
    Glad to escape the BOGMONSTER!

Super morning out, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Can't believe the extent of the bogs after Cut Gate, just glad it hasn't been wetter recently. Got round in just under 2 1/2 hours, that'll do nicely....

Nice to meet Plumbum and IanDarkPeak too.

All the best to WMR for organising the event and grub afterwards.

What's' next? How about Roaches or Tour of Pendle then?

Really enjoyable morning out on the moors.

Many thanks to all who worked hard cooking, marshalling etc.

Need to find the next challange!

    Re: Grin and bear it

    Hi all

Thanks to all who entered up, I believe a record turnout was talked about, perhaps Plumbum knows for sure. Results should appear on the website either Monday or Tuesday

Although I was a bit disappointed not to be able to run the race myself I had a great day being up early to marshal with others the early walkers though the top of Cutgate with a warning that the bog monster was hungry, it didn't take long as the 3rd 'walker' ran straight in to a bog to his waist and needed pulling out by a fellow competitor. More followed including a young lad walking with his dad who went arm pit deep, his dad was heard to comment in true dad fashion "Next time you'll look where you are going"!!

Due to the number of people that needed help getting away from the Bogmonster who were taking there time to cross the bogs safely. It was decided by the time the runners had started to deflect them away from the worst of it so I was 'volunteered' to 'redirect the traffic' across the top of Bull Clough, so apologies if you carried that snorkel or flippers.

Saw Jodg but and one or two others , Missed Simon despite watching for a Totley vest.
I managed to run round after the runners had passed in near perfect conditions. A superb run

It sounds like we all had a good time and we raised a healthy amount of money.

Just a footnote though, We are trying to raise £12,000 for a specially built off road ambulance/rescue vehicle. If you can help please get in contact.

Thanks again to every one and see you next year.

A fantastic day was had by all.
The weather always has a lot to do with it and it certainly came up trumps this year.
215 competitors all together which included 72 runners, 20 Long and 52 short.
Last year we had around 130 competitors, 30 of which were runners.
Bog monster was definitely waking up after a long dry spell.
First couple of guys that came in, having run the moorland route starting at the walkers time, one had a tide mark just under his arms and was very pleased to have had a pal with him.
Thanks to all who participated in any way, shape or form as the event wouldn't happen without you.
When postal system allows the registration form to the FRA will be in, for 2008the date for your diary is Saturday October 4th.

I see the results are up:

I assume there's a typo, and the fastest time on the 23 mile route isn't really under 2 1/2 hours!

I seem to recall seeing Plumbum taking snaps at the finish lane. Will these be appearing anywhere online?

I'll try and find out, It is possible that he was down to run the long course but changed to the short course during the race.

I'll check these as well. There was also another team member taking photos which will probably turn up on the same link as
Photos 2006 Grin and Bear it it was certainly colder and windier last year, not sure it was wetter though.
