I did some 'city centre' 'fell' running on Sunday morning.
I ran into Holyrood Park by the Scottish parliament in Edinburgh heading east I guess, then back on myself up and along the nearside ridge (with a cliff dropping off to my right) before dropping down to the foot of the steps to Arthur's Seat, up said steps to the top (fabulous views from the top), then down a nice fast grassy bank descent, around the top side of the park to the north, back out onto the main road and back to my Premier Inn
A good solid hour's run and all nicely runnable too.
Edit: Edinburgh city centre was 'quite lively' on Saturday night by the way, following Scotland's win at football (which of course got everyone to the pubs and bars especially early...... just after breakfast I'm guessing) and then later on England's win in the Rugby adding some fuel to the fire - in my experience England doing well seems to put a bit of an 'edge' to Scottish lads out drinking, especially when the occasional pissed out of his head England supporter wanders by singing and shouting less than complimentary points of detail about Scotland losing to Argentina the week before!
Another edit: Later on Sunday morning I went up Edinburgh Castle. If you're on top overlooking the main Edinburgh shopping drag of Princess Street, you can make out two or three different Scottish Pipers wailing on their bagpipes for the tourists down there. A part of me wished I had a sniper rifle handy![]()
