Certainly was a good day on Pendle. And a very well organised and marshalled race. Well done to all the competitors, and everyone involved.
Well done to Mr. Taggart as well. Is it a question of how many records he holds or how many he has left to break?
Cheers for the lift Jamie. Much appreciated. How was your Saturday night?

    Re: Full Tour of Pendle

Well what a brilliant race that was - it was also a nightmare of logistics for me. I'd moved house the day before, had a major problem just finding all my running gear, only had 5 hours of broken sleep on Friday night and generally felt well and truly knackered...... on the starting line.

I loved the course though (if not the 'chilly' - as some joker called it - wind on the tops) and absolutley scythed my way down 'that' descent to checkpoint 4. Unfortunately that descent must have caused my bottle to leak because when I first reached for it, trogging up the bastard penultimate ascent, there was only a quarter bottle there . I then really felt the cold badly on the tops and had a hell of a time untangling the zip to my waterproof while running and shivering at the same time. Having finally put the top on, I couldn't re-zip my bum bag properly and I later discovered that I'd lost my compass, leggings, drink bottle and crucially my last mars bar! (Apologies for littering but there is no way I did it on purpose..... and if anyone picked up my compass can I have it back please ).

Two or three people asked me on the way up whether that (penultimate) climb was the last and I even asked someone the same - I thought he was joking when he said the worst was to come!

Going up the last climb, I totally ran out of energy and was pretty thirsty too - my mars bar and a bleedin' drink were desperately needed. Another runner thankfully gave me a swig of lucozade which got me to the top but I was definitely feeling faint by then. Luckily the run across the moor into a freezing gale inspired me not to think anymore of feinting and I trogged on - that last moor crossing though was absolute hell - the wind made my eyes water and,to round off an equipment bashing day, I lost a contact lense too .

3 hours 24 but it could have been better. Mind you it could have easily been worse.

No worries on lift, anytime your down here and im raicng just drop me a line.

Sat night was good. I was very tired but enjoyed my evening in Llandudno, plenty of elderly people with christmas hats bless them.

A good few beers brought me round for about an hour. Then I dropped and was tucked up in bed for midnight.

The band were very good also.

Walked up Moel Famau on the sunday, catherine beat me to the top. My legs just did not work.

    Jamie

Thumbs up Re: Full Tour of Pendle

Well done all on Saturday-especially Swoop - how much time did you knock of last years run? Good turn out of forumites, old & new faces - so many fell ponies.

Ali - I'll make it filtered coffee next time - not that instant muck we had on Saturday.

Was getting a bit nippy but enjoyed the company of a fell running legend - hope I didn't ramble on to much.

Was getting concerned when I didn't see a certain pink topped lady 2nd time round - maybe next year 3rd time lucky Emmilou. Hope you're back running soon.

Manhar, filtered or not it was a lifesaver - I was freezing! Thank you v much.

Booked in at physios on Wednesday (seems to be a theme on this thread!).

And thanks to Stagger for the big pink pill too.

    Cheers, Ali

Hi Ali - How come you and Clive were standing around watching?

I had my worst race of the year. I was doing alright until about halfway, but then my back went into spasm on the first really steep descent, and after that I couldn't really run any more, so just spent the 2nd half watching about 50 runners overtake, and wondering whether or not to drop out. Somehow struggled to the end in a personal worst of 2:51.

In retrospect, running around Annapurna a week or so before, without eating any proper food wasn't the ideal preparation.

Hi Chris, played 5-a-side with the young lads at work (I know, I know) and got up-ended about 10 days ago. Wrecked both knees.

Set off on Saturday and was ok until ckpt 1. As soon as I started on the flat across the top my knee started hurting big-style so sacked it.

Clive wasn't running as he'd already secured the Bowland championship

    Running around Annapurna sounds good.

    Cheers, Ali

A man of your age shouldn't be playing football.
