I'm honestly not fishing for an argument but the 'ponies' club has been set up as a club with a difference.

No fuss, no fees, no rules..... but is the real difference that you dont want to affiliate to UKA and its rules?

    Re: Fell Ponies??

We are not mad anarchists for the sake of being mad anarchists (notice I didn't deny we WERE mad anarchists...though in fact if we were mad anarchists, I wouldnt have been involved in any mad anarchy). I think the no fees, no fuss ideology is a simpler way to express what we stand for. My understanding is that to be affiliated to UKA, apart from the fees, there has to be an official yearly AGM (and a founding meeting), and you have to have officials in place within the club...secretary, treasurer etc......each meeting has to have an agenda, proposals, seconders and all that pal-larva......
On a personal level, and Im sure most ponies would back me up on this, we wanted to avoid all that bollocks, and the pointless politics, time wasting, and arm twisting that inevitably follows suit......and in my experience it inevitably does.....where there is politics and power involved it happens! I personally don't see the need for these roles within a club, and barring affiliation fees don't understand why clubs need to charge sometimes in the region of £30 for yearly membership. Thats why we have not affiliated to UKA. Its not JUST about money. Now I know people will disagree with my slant on club fees and on the treasuer, secretary roles within clubs etc...fair enough thats your opinion and you are entitled to it. I also know that clubs operate off ver cheap membership (Is it Bowland who are £6 a year or something-- fair play thats super). We made a decisiona nd so far we have stuck to it.

Hopefully that will explain some of MY thinking as a PONY

    i thought the ponies were

A, the anarchists/misfits that other clubs did'nt want.
B, too tight to pay club fees.
C, no one could be arsed to treasurer so we dont have fees.
D, and didnt want to give self appointed jobsworth little shits the power to hassle you into running races what they want and all that bollocks like my local club.

thats why i joined , and to frolic and run free on all fours (well at pendle in parts anyway) and i thought we'd have to wear bridals too,a bit disappointed about that bit.
