Let me extol the virtues of leg 2
Fairly early start, but no too bad! - Run up to Stoodley Pike, stunning, nice run across to the stables, where you have to walk - how refreshing is that!
Easy descent, followed by a nasty ascent, then the highlight - a cracking descent to the leisure centre.
Then it all gets better and better - reach the car, situate within 30 secs of a warm shower and cafe!
Drive back to Crag Vale, passing the delightful Robin Hood pub (well, when I say passing!!) decent beer and a real fire.
Thence home - and half the legs are either running or yet to start!

I did route 1 but with an underpowered partner which was a bit of a shame; he's a good road runner but the hills killed him from what he told me. Still an enjoyable run with plenty of mud, which made it worth the getting up at ..... 4:30

BUT real men don't need such things at wainstalls, just a stream, draughty bit o' road, cold watter t'sup, yer don't know yer born!

I did Leg 5 after waiting around at Wainstall for 1.5 hours very cold, but an excellent run until I met the slippery steps at Shibden Vale and went head over heals and landed on my backside. I shouldn't get to confident doing the descending no wonder my partner was taking is time should have reccied it before and read the forum more often. Great day and well organised race, but a few went awol on leg 5 in first 1 or 2 miles.
Well done to everyone especially the organisers, what a logistical nightmare it must be to bring this all together.
We don't help by not being aware of traffic.
Standing at Blackshaw Head, start of leg 4, lost count of the number of times a marshall shouted "Please move off the road".
What's wrong with Josephine public as well, 1st cottage after Horse? bridge at Midgehole, a "lady" was outside in her drive, being a friendly soul a wished her good day, her reply was less friendly, "I'll be there early tomorrow with my objection!!
