Well Done to those running through icy bogs!!
Are there any piccies of this jaunt?
ooh, and while I'm on
how about a Fell Ponies 2008 Championship?
we'd just need somebody (with a bit more experience than me!)to pick a few counters from the 2008 calendar
then somebody to count up the points (along similar lines to the Hayfield Championship maybe?) - I wouldn't mind doing this bit...![]()
On a personal level, I would say go for it if thats what you'd like to do. I think that really is essentially the thinking behind Fell Ponies ie- that you don't feel bound by silly rules (silly being the operative word) and that you don't have to seek approval from a chairman or some high authority figure to do so. Thats why we don't have said roles and figures. Canvass for support, and see who's interested.
you get more points for coming last - how about that???![]()
all the speedy thoroughbreds have minus points for winning!!!
not sure I like the idea myself only because you might feel governed to do them - I know it's only fun etc but those that don't/can't do the chosen races may feel a bit excluded???
just a thought - I don't get them often granted and now my head hurts![]()
In which case we could have a large number of counting races, and only have to compete in a few
this is probably a good idea anyway as we are so spread out geographically
how about 5 Shorts, 5 Mediums and 5 Longs
That would make 15 counters
say best 4 to count (or best 5?) (inc. 1 Short, 1 Med, 1 Long)
Hey how about a really complicated formula that takes into account your age![]()
So you get say 10 base points for finishing in the top 10% and 1 base point for finishing in the bottom 10% and then multiply that by your age (attained, whole years). So a top 10% finish for a 50 year old would score a massive 500 points whereas for a 30 year old they'd get a measly 300 points.
The geek in me can feel a stupidly clever spreadsheet coming on......
I think all Ponies should nominate say 3 races race at each distance then Daz (well volunteered) can let us all know the top 4 (or 5) in each distance which will become next year's Championship races.
...and then Stolly can use his spreadsheet to his hearts content!!
