Just had a tin of asparagas soup that expired in May '07 - will it kill me?

Am trying to lessen the affect by eating several malted milk cream biscuits to soak it up. If no more posts from me then it's not worked

Have not died - these 'consume by' dates must be all a myth to make us buy more food.

my mum once kept some Deep Heat for about 12 years after the "use by" date... didn't know deep heat had such a thing until it leaked all down her bathroom wall from the bathroom cupboard - I think that was just the metal corroding!!

    Re: Quiet Around Here

We were at the wife's dad's house a few years ago and she had a bad stomach with pains, etc and her dad said I've got just the thing for that. He rummaged in the drawer and gave her a pessary and said I've used these in the past and they work wonders. When we went home she gave it a whirl and within 30 minutes she was in the bathroom for the rest of the day and not a happy bunny. When she spoke to her dad later that night he said well, they worked fine for me when my mum gave them me - when was that she asked - when I was 18! Turn out they had been in the drawer for around 40 years
She has accepted no further offers of medical aid from her dad since!!

Well (according to the Daily Mirror anyway ) tins and jars can last 'centuries' or until they rust.
