I think it was a wise old penistone runner who said 'if you want to get through the stile first run faster'
Windproof you say surely the kit requirements required Waterproofs. DSQ if you can't follow the rules laid out by the RO:mad:

I went a lot further along London Road than any other runners in that sort of group before climbing directly to the monument........Was the person you're referring to wearing a greenish windproof, blue bum bag and 3/4 leggings??? If they were it could've been me!
Thanks to the organisers and all the marshalls for all their efforts in putting the event on.
I had a wretched day, having been ill all week. Severely tested my ability to keep going. Thanks to Derby Tup for some encouraging words as I was sat, in a bit of daze, on the pathside above Hollin Hall:o:eek:
Too much road and not enough grass/bogs for my liking anyway. Legs feel battered. Will still have to do it again next year to put in a decent time!:)
Thanks to Brett and the team for another cracking day out: this was my first ultra three years ago and it holds a special place in my heart. Lovely scenery and great marshalls. See you next year.
thanks to brett and all the helpers..great race only spoilt by my own stupidity. twice.:eek:
great to see you johnk / britnickand to meet derby tup. cracking bunch of people.
we'll be back to do it justice next year
Was that you I was walking with from the bridge up towards Top o't Stairs? If it was then you were wrong, I didn't catch you! Got within 30 yards or so at the top of the hill, but my legs wouldn't let me do much more than a slow stagger down the other side...
If it wasn't you then please ignore the above :)
It was a great day out and great to meet so many running buddies / forumites - Chris Brown, ultracollie, IanDarkpeak, SwimmingDunce. There must have been others. There were some good times achieved.
Sorry you had navigational woes, ultracollie. At least it means that a dramatic PB is guaranteed next year.
I've just posted my pics on Flickr! Are any of you there?

My Mum used to live up here at a place called Horsehold, nobody would walk her home after a night out in Hebden Bridge.................wonder why:eek:
Only person daft enough to do it was my Dad, his daft genes live on in me;)
merry, I can see it on my Tracklogs map as I type. It's not so bad, though. There is a bit of a short cut path to Horsehold. ;)
On Saturday as I blasted down the hill in pursuit of some other runners, an old dear waited patiently in her car on the handbrake for me to reach her, and asked "Are there any more?". I didn't think the road was that narrow and runners were that wide. She was very considerate.
That's a fantastic PB, Hugh
I was only 10 mins slower than in 2007, so I reckon that's a PB as well, given the longer distance.
I've just uploaded my race report to my blog.
Nick.
Ho yes!
