53mins easy recovery run after yesterdays session. A nice undulating run. Will squeeze in another couple of miles tonight either side of circuits...
2 miles easy this morning to wake me up ;)
1 hour steady on bike this afternoon on/off road
50 lengths of the pool.
T'other half is ill, so no running for me over the past two nights....:(
JODG ye may need to trade those road shoes in for a headtorch for the Chew Whiskey Trail ;)
Whiskey drop off tomorrow, if all's well....
6.2 miles - mostly road plus a good 'crispy leaf' section:D near Kirkstall Abbey. Blowing a gale as I went back up Pollard Lane hill from Newlay Bridge.
Warm up, 10 miles at marathon pace, warm down. 1.25 in total.
55mins FITC-approved hilly Fartlecky run in Strid Woods Bolton Abbey. 4runs in last week = 35miles+; the most I've done in many months :):):)
Track last night - not a great session, old injuries flaring up :( although the mileage increase this week is accountable so it's my own daft fault....
running at lunch time though - good old bruphen :D
8 miles hilly roads . first 30 mile week for 15 months .
Yesterday:
Bit of strength work in the morning, still can't see a 6 pack?
Took one of the cross country team lads for a run in the afternoon. He's 17, slim and fit; everything I'm not. I said we should do a steadt run as I was tired (good excuse in there striaght way!). Took him for 6 or 7 miles with a 1000" of climb. He bounced up and I chugged up. Just over an hour!:)
Today: Dropped my car off for some work in town and ran back, a few hills and put some strides in. 35 mins. Down the gym tonight for some weights.:)
i keep seeing this term - what are strides?? how do you stride??
5 miles yesterday
6 miles (well nearly) today
perhaps prison is doing me some good afterall! :D
BBC club tonight for chicken and chips
No running tomorrow..... probably....
Perhaps not then
Strides are running fast for abot 20 to 30 secs. The idea, I think, is that you stimulate your muscles into a good efficient fast motion but because you don't run fast for enough time to build up any lactic you don't get the stiffness or tiredness. Good on an easy or steady run to get some "easy" speed work done. I'm told that if you do them at the end of a long run it can make some of your fast twitch muscles also work as slow twitch; FOG fibres or something. Obviously if you want a definative answer you would need to talk to someone considerably brighter than I.
6 miles up a damp, cold & dreary Hameldon hill - no strides.
A fast (for me) 6.5 and a bit mile run at lunchtime. The golf course part of the run was slightly hilly .
2 x 4 mile (mainly) off road hilly loops
home to Bradfield up Rocher Head to Strines to Moscar back to Bradfield via Sugworth road and back up Windy bank to Strines and over to Bar Dike, then down to Ewden and up to Bolterstone. slow at 2.30 hours but it was windy and I stopped for a chat with some walkers.
Measured with the Garmin so height might be a bit out but it was a hard ride.
6.1 miles road steady pace due to pain:mad:

5 mile local for me. hamstring ok. happy now.
3hours on the hills this afternoon, last hour in the dark (with head torch of course). Based around Holme Moss, Black Hill and Crowden. Lucky enough to take an afternoon off work! :p Freezing out, mind you.
'Spinning' session in gym for first time. Good fun: 30 mins total, averaged 150 bpm and upto 178 on 'climbs'. It went so quickly and I felt good afterwards.
1st training session completed for 7 weeks ;)
Not much running this week as been very busy with preparations for Oftsed inspection next week. did a short road run tonight for 20 mins. hoping for a lot longer tomorrow.
Will do a steady 4-5 miles today with not much undulation as physio requested. We are reasonably sure that my problem is now sorted and he has discharged me.
He says that i have to stretch much more than i used to and have to build my mileage slowly. This is good news because i weighed in this morning at ...............16 stone 2lbs!!!!!!!!!:(:(
6 weeks of very little running have taken their toll me thinks.
Im not coming out in public until ive got my weight down!
2hrs 30 on the Downs with 400m ascent. Out from Burpham onto the Springhead ridge, down Amberley Mount than back through the valley to Burpham. Beautiful day down here - cool with clear blue skies and sunshine. You Northern hard men don't know what you're missing!
