Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
In the likelyhood that every ones hard work will turn to sh*t over the coming weeks are we going to start this thread up again after the festive period?
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I'm planning to run every day in December before possibly starting my 'Ripped at Fifty' campaign in the new year
-
Overweight to Race weight
And we have a new moderator
"The devil's own "
My target was 75 which I touched for half an hour back in July:). Since that very slowly going in the opposite direction. I hit 78kg last week.
I'll set a new target of 75kg for Edel Skyline in March
-
Re: Overweight to Race weight
since Bullock Smithy back at the beginning of September, I have been steadily stuffing my face, culminating this morning in tipping the scales at 13'1 (83kg), which has definitely held me back on recent races
target is 12'7 (79.5kg) for Lamb's Longer Leg and The Hebden in mid January...
then 12'4 (78kg) for Haworth Hobble at the start of March...
-
Re: Overweight to Race weight
After hitting a low of 71 I drifted up a bit but down again to 72.5, due to ramping the miles up again now for January's Trigger.
-
Re: Overweight to Race weight
been settled at 74.5 - 75 dispite no running for last 4 weeks due to injury if i can get through to spring at that weight il be happy,
think i did hit 73 at one point in the summer (that wasnt)
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I am gradually removing all that extra "comfort eating weight" I acquired while injured. I became the heaviest I have been in my life during that phase :o

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
My weight went down with the 5:2 diet
5 days owt you want including choc and ale
2 days 600 cal which 4 me is big soup for dinner and tuna sanrie for tea in un buttered white bread
Over a stone in 10 weeks about 1.5 a week.
Back to hunter gatherer mode. I'm happy and it works for me.
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Stagger, is that the Horizon fasting diet jobby?

Yep
Works a treat for me.
Easy to follow and does the job.

Two days in week I have a soup (big soup) for dinner and tuna and mayo in un buttered bread for tea.
Only dinner and tea no breakfast. I usually do Mon & Thur or Tu & Thur
Only water through day but Mrs S says you can have tea or coffee just no sugar or milk
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Do you tie in 'light' training days with the fasting days?
-

Yep, I do a 30 min treadmill speed effort and 4 x 25 crunch's then 10 mins spinning on bike high rpm low effort.
This is in the late afternoon then I have the tuna sarnie for tea and re hydrate.
Never been a problem and no ill effects.
Weight has dropped from just over 13st to just under 12st.
Results in the last 6 weeks have been best in last five years, and I take my stats from % of winner plus pos in race.
Its also shows on the forum champs thread.
Its not a diet now its a lifestyle and I couldn't be more pleased.
If you want any more info just ask.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Cheers for that Stagger, I'll probably have more questions. I'll start a new thread for it when they come along.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Okay January is here and the damage has been done. Last April I was 86kg I hit my target of 75kg for a short while last summer but steady rising back up since (As of January 1st --> 80.8kg). I lost the plot when I stopped recording my calorie intake. Eating a bar of chocolate worth 500 calories does not feel too bad when one is not recording another 500 calories in the little food diary.
So we get DrPat to get his little table going again and lets get to work!

All the above is true for me as well so yep, I am in and I will run the table again.

Good offer Dr Patrick.
I've always been one to try and lose weight to run better.
170lb or 12st 2lb or 77kg this morning. What day would you like us to weigh or do we just post randomly.
Thanks again
Target for 2013 sub 158lb
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I'm in. Lets decide on a weigh in day and our measurement of choice kg's or llbs?
Good work for putting yourself forward again Pat. I'll get my start weight in the morning.
No more of that weight lifting for me so I know what I'm doing with my goals this year, unlike last!

I did get down to 65 kg but with a complete lack of will power to say no over the silly season I was back to 67.0 on New Years morning. The Training diary did show I started the year at 72 kg though.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Good stuff Pat,
I'll stay with kgs since my scales only work in lbs or kgs and 178 lbs is demoralizing.
So Start / Current 80.80 kg: Target a modest 75kg....

I'm out. I've put on a horrendous amount of weight in the past 6 months. I daren't even get on the scales!

You just need a goal race Dom.

That is why I have agreed to be in, I know I have a shock coming so just have to face it.
I will give it a couple of days and then put the names in, as can be seen it are just dummy weights in there at the moment.
Can people say straight out if they want adding to table.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Thanks for doing this Dr Pat. I'll weigh myself in the morning
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I dread to think what my current weight is! I have never been a racer (never will be) but the nearest I'll get to it this year is the Old Crown Round (it's got beer in it:) ). Also planning on doing a couple of assault course challenges: Rat Race Dirty Weekend 11th May (20 miles, 200 obstacles) and Tough Mudder (5th/6th Oct) so need to be a fit (and light) as possible for those.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
81.7kg for me Pat. I'll set a target of 72.5kg for now and see how I get on.
Shall we say 15th for the first weigh in and bi-weekly thereafter?
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Been meaning to lose that extra half a stone for years now...but on the plus side haven't put anymore on!!
I guess if I shame myself on here by posting my weight then I'll have no choice but to do it!! Just remember I am 5ft 10!!
Currently 65kg and looking to be 60kg (again!!) :o

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
24% body fat (fat bastard!) as measured on my Tanita scales.
Targeting under 15% by the end of 2013. I'm not concerned about weight particularly as doing both weights and running.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Would this not be easier to keep track of if we created an online spreadsheet that everyone participating can update themselves? We can then put the results on here fortnightly?
I can set the spreadsheet up if there's any interest. I can then either make it public for anyone to update it, or send each participant a PM with a more secure link.
One benefit of a spreadsheet is that we can do an easy conversion between lbs and kg as well with both shown on it.

Well yes and no.
It would be easier for people to maintain their own record, but I do not mind maintaining the table.
I feel the visibility of the table within the thread does act as a motivator, it certainly did for me last winter.
In fact it was as the thread started to wain then so did my discipline and hence some of the gains were lost:o.

Fair enough, just thought it may save you some time but no point setting it up if you'd prefer to do it on here.
