Well to be honest I thought you were being far too kind describing the wail as 'singing'! :p it was more of a whoop de whoop :D go on, you have to try it!! ;)

Hehe, well I wanted to give it everything and see what happened. Wish I had the muscles to do 7 or 8 today!
Was going to fast to contemplate eating on the first half, which was my pitiful downfall on the 2nd half, lesson learnt there, energy will run out when you don't want it too, and you won't drop to last place if you stop for a few jelly babies, which I seem to think will happen in my head :cool:
7 or 8miles later might be a big ask; I'm cream-crackered after ironing a few shirts for work :o
Try and get into habit of eating on the climbs. Suspect you probably ran a lot of them but at my pace you can sneak half a Mars down you without loosing any time
There are hot dogs at the Haworth Hobble at around 14mile. No onions is my tip ;):D
I don't have your pace but do a lot of long challenge events etc and tend to be able to pace myself now. Hobble is interesting as best running is in first 20miles or so and a 'blast off, then hang on' strategy isn't a bad one. You should enter as its a real grand day out overseen by the main-man Brett! My first was only the second fell race I'd done and I wouldn't miss it for anything
We had quite a few items left in the cricket club after the race yesterday. If any of these things are yours, please contact me.
Raidlight 500ml waterbottle
Science in Sport 500ml waterbottle
Nike 500ml waterbottle
Black Helly
Map case with trog map, compass and Eirik Stangnes (Valley Striders) print out
Black meduim Ron Hill pants
Bright green hat (very dirty)
Black patterend buff
One green large fleecy glove
Pair of large black fleecy gloves (thinsulate)
Linda
The banks of the ribble are thankfully tussock, heather and bog free although all the fields I run through do resemble those near the finish  probably why I liked that bit!!
I think the talons were a big mistake yesterday as the souls of my feet are killing me today. 23 miles in them seemed a good idea at first, excellent grip, full range of movement, light etc but this morning = ow, ow, ow :o:(
Yes, I was going to ask you how your's were as knew you wore them too yesterday. Found them great on the race and was chatting to a guy that nearly wore his but decided not to because of the distance. They were brilliant on the rocks and all the rough stuff and I do like the fact my feet feel 'free' but they are sadly suffering a bit from the lack of support - at least I think that's why they are sore....nothing to do with an 87 mile week!!! :o
I only really run in Walsh or Roclite 285 atm but suffer with sore feet. We were with a lad in grey 330s yesterday for a good while and he was skating on the Withins flags! The old 330s were a brilliant shoe - grippy and surprisingly comfie over long distance. Great for trogging! :D
I ran in new 330's and found them perfect. My only other option would have been Flyrocs which I think again would have slipped on the Withins slabs. Managed to run alongside the slabs at a good pace faster than if i had been on them.
I am heavy on tread and thought I might have worn them down on the bits of road which are always further than I remember, but there appears little wear.
Wouldn't have wanted to run along the boundary wall in anything else. Think we were lucky most of the bog along there was frozen apart from the top inch of thaw..
Don't feel too bad at all today, in fact felt stiffer after the Pennine BR which was a much steadier run for me. As detailed under the AS moniker felt strong most of way round apart from the last hill after I caught the leading lady group (again) but then just faded after all the rushing to try to make up time cos of getting lost and couldn't get past them (again). I would be interested to see where the groups behind me at Cock hill but in front of me at the end finished.
I will be off for a 7/8 mile off road run today or possibly a cross bike ride.
wow-where do I start?
Big thanks to the organisers, what a superb day and the smiliest ,chattiest, most encouraging marshalls ever! Manhar, your tights and shoes combo was classic and made me smile when I was nervous at the start!
Huge thanks to the angel who helped me round-Chris, you were so kind and I learnt so much, even if I couldn't keep up with you at the end! I think I had my first ever bonk! I was knackered after CP 13, staggering all over and just wanted to lie down in the tussocks!
Flagging at end of route? -I am all for it. I don't think I would have finished without it. By this stage, extreme fatigue and no one around, it was a god send as I kept saying, "just do one more bit then you can lie down"!! So please keep it-it would be disheartening at such a late stage in the race to go off course?
UKHursty-bloody hell mate! You beauty! I knew you were going for it but that was a supreme effort. Well done! Such a shame you can't do the 3PPP's-you'd have a mega time in that one!
A fantastic day, at the moment I am thinking "never again"!! (which probably means see you all again next year!!)
That might have been me in the new 330's. Bambi on Ice down the flags.
Can't believe I went wrong between 12 and 13 again. Last year I went too far right and ended up going back up hill to 13, this year went too far left following footprints!
First time I've had my compass out in 3 years. Wish I'd taken more notice of it, rather than the footprints!
Mounsey.
In answer to your question "NOTHING LEFT". I was knackered.
Thanks to Mrs S and CV for organising.
Stagger,
Am I edging away from being a "knobber"???????
Well done all......Great Race.
it might have been me. I was part of 'group' following a bloke to cp 13. After 5 mins of heather I decided we were heading wrong way so just carted off... Turns out I was going the wrong way and I finished in 4.42. Met you (??) at the finish to check what time you finished in and to see how lost I got!! Turned out guy we were heading had gps
Great race,This was my 1st time doing it and will be back next year to find cp13 ! I was heading for a decent time untill got lost, went like a lemming after 12 was getting tried and couldnt find it.But still enjoyed it loads despite this.I will do a recce next time for sure.Big thumbs up to everyone who helped the race,My mother runs are xc race and i know how much hard work goes in to a race.At least i know i can run for that mileage now.
I've sent the results to Brett so they should be on here soon.
Very well organised event and to be able to train a bull to chase us near the finish is just amazing:).
Thanks to all involved
It was a hard event for me as is always the first race of the year. Big thanks to Simon Bourne of Calder Valley for his navigation. We had a great battle and the race seemed to take a twist near the finish with quite a few navigational errors creeping in to shake the results a little.
The last hill is fantastic, all races sould finish like that.
I ran my arse off and Captain Stagger asked me where id been . Great :D
Very cold, very claggy, what more could you want.
Some photos from Eileen on http://woodentops.org.uk
Good to see everyone had a memorable day yesterday - very well done in getting round.
Key moments - being told to "Sod of" by Anti Social - I think he was trying to live up to his name - but I get the impression he's just a big Softie really :)
Shaun and Rachel-must admit did laugh out loud at myself when I read your 1st paragraph - I know, I know I really ought to buy a pair of trail / walking shoes.
Tea & Cakes delicious cake and the wonderful soup put on by the cricket club ladies.
Thank you to Mr & Mrs Stagger for putting on the race (hope you both had a well earned glass of wine / beer when it was all over) and the generous praise from all quarters for my small part - always a pleasure to help.
The link to the full results is up on the CVFR web site....................but it takes you to the half results.
Sorry about that a technical glitch, we hope to have full results and splits up soon, in the meantime will this do:?
We were borrowing Orienteering e punching kit from the kind people at East Pennine Orienteering Club, who as it happens are having a major event on the same area on Valentines day, go to www.eastpennineoc.org.uk for a butchers. Sadly said e-kit does not recognise V40, LV50 etc, so I have used M for men, and W for ladies, if no age class then they are open age, and W20 is open age ladies!
If you can't wait for the splits...email via the link on CVFR website
and I'll email you the splits!

Cheers for posting the results!
I've been demoted from my print-out result 3 places lol :)
Can't believe the total number, I thought it was full at 200! :p
Cheers Rachel, you had a stonker too!! Top running :)
Just seen other thread so please ignore.
Cheers - Raymond
The 200 was for both races although you are right to point out we had quite a few no show's who did not even contact the Entry Sec.
This was the only disapointment as there was quite a few who would liked to have run.
Well done all who turned up and enjoyed the event, Mrs Stagger did an awesome job.
We are considering running it as 2 seperate races on different weeks in future to try to accommodate more on the Full Trog.
26th. i pulled away from a group of Clayton runners at the return from Cockhill and attached to the first lady group, we went off course a bit , then I pulled away from them on my own and got totally lost. If i had stayed with the Clayton lads looking at the results I could have been between 14th and 17th. Ce La vie.
However is it me or were the times slower this year overall. I felt stronger than I have for ages but even if I had finished with Clayton I would have been slower than my best to date which was 3.35 after bonking badly and i was much lower down the field then.
The computer that was running the splits was synchronised to the start, so all times should be bang on, even if you only punched the finish box. A few of you missed a couple of checkpoints, so I had to manually give you a split, some of which are bizarre, the final time is accurate.
I guess you were slow because of the clag??
Just to echo all, a huge thank you to organisers and marshals. Spot on.
An extra cheers to Manhar who checked that i was okay as i deliriously ignored him when crossing the road... I'd moved beyond niceties by then and had slumped into sulking miserable mode! I'm not sure my ankle's ever pointed in so many directions in one day before...
Still, survived it in 4.34ish which isn't so bad for my first L fell race. I did die terribly in the second half and kept getting passed... although it made me chuckle to see the same people passing who'd overtaken an hour before! I'd have done the same had some kind soul not pointed out that you shouldn't see walls in the middle of a moor and then diving off to the right.
Still, it makes road marathons seem like pish... I'll be back!
Not seen too many photos, I saw plenty of people taking them though!
Anyone spotted anymore anywhere?
