10k this morning and 2.53 mile tonight around Cronton and Tarbock.
Cracking 3hrs first thing this morning. Skins run as it was nice & sunny (no, I did wear shorts). Took in most of the Holme Moss race route with a couple o' extras. Beautiful out, perfect in fact. :)
7 mile on the roads today. Need to get out on the hills a bit more
Good week so far, 8+ hrs out there in and around The Chew, cracking run late last night Wimberry - Alphin after all the crowds had gone home, 8 pm 'ish, just saw one other person a mountain biker on the opposite side of the valley above Charnel Stones.....Had to bin the Callow FR today, for Ice Age 3 with the wee nipper , but will be doing The Chew edges this evening :)
Hope all are having a good weekend...:)
6 miles this morning on the roads and then up and over Pex Hill.
30.61m/4964ft in 6h 13m. A good run that turned into an adventure hacking through nettle strewn paths and being chased by a bull. Even came across a dead sheep, nearly stood in it, the smell almost brought back my porridge:eek:
Bloody legs are tingling with stings now and gets back to find that Mini-Merry has fallen out of a tree, nothing broken, just bruised all over and feeling sorry for himself:(
2nd run of the day - a short 3 mile blast along the country lanes tonight in 18.30
I was hoping to bump in to the odd forumite on the hills around the 3'ps However Merry was else where;)
Only saw a couple from Borrowdale coming off Whernside
any way a double Three Peaks over weekend one on Sat one on Sunday.
achey legs this morning so no race tonight.
Had a good curry in the Indian down an alley in Settle and a few pints of Golden Pippin in the pub in Clapham (forgot it's name) opposite bridge.
Well done Ian - I was on top of two of the peaks on Saturday morning but didn't see you anywhere :D. I did see one guy on top of Whernside running the 3p who was crippled by cramp though and a couple of others looking in fine fettle again running all three on top of Ingleborough.
I also didn't see you at Ruchee's either down the alley, which I did wander past, or the New Inn in clapham which I drove past after dropping my daughter off in Ingleton.
PS next time you're up give me a shout. Whats more on the second day a circuit of Kingsdale out of Dent would have been better (about 19 but can easily be extended to 23 by starting in Ingleton) rather than covering the same ground twice.
Unfortuanately I wasn't running which I think made them harder ( although I did power up the steep bit on Inglbugger)
I was providing mobile safety cover for a charity walk so just had to keep a position relative to the walkers.
Curry was good as was beer but had to be up at 5.00am:eek: so only the two. We stayed in Ingleborugh hall clapham
DP summer league race tonight, "Whinstone Whiz". ~8km of heather, bracken with a few rocky trails. Boy, the midges were biting tonight! Happy with my 6th place (1:04) since I went off the beaten track a few times.
At least I'll know the course for next year! :D
Last nights club/pub run took us up to Darwen Tower.
Ive never been up to the tower before and ive never even got close to running near it.
After cycling to the run and running the first few miles in glorious sunshire, the heavens opened and we got a real torrential downpour as we climbed up to the tower.
I didnt know you could actually go into the tower which served as a good place to shelter whilst the rain stopped and whilst everyone caught up.
We then got to enjoy splashing through the puddles all the way back to the cars....and then the midges decided to play vampire us all....and then it tipped it down on the way home on the bike.
Nice run.:)
2 hours basketball if that counts as training
Yesterdays to be honest
What is turning into a regular jaunt up the Loxley Valley and back over Loxley common.
Got quite wet.......as wet as a peasant with his head rammed down a toilet in fact as we say in our house:D
Helen Windsor 10K Road Race:eek:
Told Tussockface not to tell anyone i did it, don't do tarmac;)
Last night 3 x hilly road reps @ ~1100ft (each just under 3 miles in length) onto Holme Moss from Holmebridge. Making the best part of 18miles for the whole jaunt in a tad under 2 1/2hrs.
Miles easier than the last time (when it was so bloomin' hot) as it was pretty chilly yesterday. Could even see my breath on the summit. Is that the end of summer then?
yes nive managed to run two days on the trot. 1 mile tt. just under 7 minutes which is a bit poor due to my 5 something last time
c 12.5ml / 4500ft including nine Wainwrights with Al Fowler from Langdale starting off with climbing Pavey Ark via Jack's Rake :cool:
4500ft, im happy with that.
Another cracking run!
We started at Old Dungeon Ghyll and headed straight up the valley to stickle tarn. After skirting left round the tarn we headed up Jacks rake. Certainly not one for the fainthearted as it takes abit of balls at certain sections, and if you look down theres a good few rocks so splat on at the bottom.
We eventually simmited Pavey ark, and then contoured to Sergeant man. We considered heading off towards High Raise to bag another summit, we decided it was too far out of the way really.
So we jumped on the trod, and summited the 'blink and you miss it Thunacar Knott and then popped up Harrison Stickle, bobbed down to Loft Crag and then shot bag up to Pike of Stickle.
We then decided we'd head along the long trod to rocky Rossett Pike. It was here than i had a mini-bonk and i really seemed to run out of energy. I'd run out of water many summits ago but a couple of mouthfuls of DT's and a bite of a breakfast bar thingy and i found abit of life again.
We headed off towards Angle Tarn with my spring back in my step. The running water away from Angle Tarn was like a god send so i couple down a pint of that and fill my bottle up again for later.
We got to the shelter where we decided Allen Crags was to be bagged another day, and after talking to an injured fell runner (it ITB!) we trecked up to Esk Pike. It was here that we caught up a load of posh Aussie grammar school kids out walking the same way as us. After reaching Bow Fell we decided to call it a day and head back down The Band.
It was here that we caught up a man on his own, maybe in his late 50's/early 60's. He was flying down the scree off Bow Fell and i got all competative and has to catch him up. In the end the very happy chap decided he'd like to try out fell running and ran down The Band the whole way, and no matter how hard i tried over the rocky path i could not drop him. He said he'd never done fell running but i told him he could make an ace fellrunner and it made him even more happy.
The to finish off, a mile or so trot back to the car from the farm that the Great Lakes run starts from.
Fantastic run, the longest ive been on my feet running ever and im abit stiff!:D

Just had a quick look around, turns out it was half a langdale horseshoe recce and half a BG leg 3 recce. :)
My favourite all time run is that way Al. A friend was doing the langdale marathon so they were out for i think 5 hours. I headed from The dungeon ghyll pub. Straight up the path at the back to loft crag and then because of the clag back down to a waterfall crossed over and got harrison stickle in as well. Its about 7 miles with 3000ft and can be done in 1:30ish with a few camera stops. Definately recommend it
Greenfield - ascents of Alderman, Ravenstones & Dovestones, last hill session before Snowdon next sat. :)
Same thing on my mind this morning Alphin! :D Start from Holme village, up the road onto the top then across Tooleyshaw, Westend, dropping into Crowden, across valley and up Torside before making my way to Bleaklow Head. 2hrs! Then, of course, back the way I came...
3h 53m in all, some 4000ft ascent probably and bloomin' pooped now. C**p weather out this morning as well, wore a windproof and base layer (well, it IS July) but got drenched in showers and cold.
Greenfield - Plantation - Doves Quarry - Ravenstones - Binn Green - Tanners and home.....2 x 15 mins tempo thrown in......See You Sat Jodg & Fleeter :)
And a cracking post with brill snaps.:)
PS are you the Harry Potter look a like in one of the snaps??
Meanwhile I have to report the following
8 miles or so from near Bradfield to Duck Central aka Derwent Fairholmes. Felt good and the horrible little steep tarmac bit seemed easier.
No fells I'm afraid :-( ....150' maximum ascent :-D
But sooooo pleased with my new Roclite 315s...4.7 miles of very sandy flinty trails in 41 mins...nearly a minute and a quarter off my mile time :-)
Early morning 15 min continuous run (7.5-8min/mi). Knee felt fine during. Can't believe how bad my lungs were though. Was stuggling towards the end. I guess 7 months off will do that though won't it?
Was meant to start on these runs last week, but just ridiculously busy. Should get a couple more in before hols.
