I've had problems in my fingers because of falling over suddenly - often when really tired and you just can't correct yourself . Fell over and bent the joints back the wrong way, obviously from putting out my hands to stop myself.

I seem to be in the wars again. Out on Arran Fawddy today, descending hard on a grassy slope and walkers coming up the path, took my eye off the ground for a second and went over big time with my ankle giving way.
Got up after a couple of minutes and ran on back, but this evening it is swollen up badly. On ice and profen, see what happens  .
Been training hard on tired legs, recipe for disaster.
I cracked a filling eating popcorn last night.
Fellrunner - does it affect your running though?
My leg is still not good after the stress fracture. I think it was lurking for a few weeks, then I jumped off the bottom of a gate and that was it :(
I'm having a 6 week break, so 10 more days to go until I run again :)
Pulled my calf at the BL race on sunday on the first lap 6mins down from last race in the park.:( :( :( Got lapped by Fellrunner:o
Hows your ankle molehill? I have done mine in after doing 28 , think its cos my other knee aches and i put more wt on right side . Anyway strapped iced etc
One word- Blisters.
Chuffing sore since Saturday and the wearing of new XC spikes which must have been on the small side.
And tonight they stopped me from running. Anyone want to swap seven blisters for anything?
I'll swap them for the bruised ribs I've been nursing for the past week. Very sore when coughing, laughing even pooing!!! Could be a good few weeks before I'm back running, never ever going to play 5-a-side again :(
Do you fancy a few weeks of NO RUNNING, MINIMAL CYCLING and SWIMMING (but only with a pull bouy)?
If the answer is "yes", then I would love a few blisters and you are very welcome to my hamstring. This is sh1te.
Trying to be stoic, but this is my longest break for 15 years.
Will the hills still be there if I recover???????????????
Sorry to hear about your hamstring, but these blisters really P1$$ed me off the other night. I was just getting going again and starting to nip round my steady runs in record times and then I go and wear a small pair of spikes. Blister both heals and all my toes. I have had to raid the babies nappy rash cream and she isn't even born.
RR - You probably already know this but Flexitol Heel Balm is a recommended product for prevention of foot blisters, especially when wearing in new running shoes. Now that you already have blisters I always found that the quickest cure was to dry them out by walking round with no shoes on and I would probably chuck your spikes (or risk getting more blisters). I'd still swap you for bruised ribs...another two weeks I reckon before I'm running again.
Just when I thought I was getting back into some decent form / level of fitness after being out for 4 months with an achilles problem I know have a hamstring strain / tightness. Felt it towards the end of the Gravy race & went out last night in the pouring rain but had to hobble home after 15 mins after pulling up sharply.
As Ady said "if its not one thing its a bloody nother." :(
I know the feeling Manhar!:( What I hoped was just post-race stiffness which I tried running off on Tuesday and then rested again until today has turned into a minor calf tear (turned round after only 7 minutes running tonight and jogged slowly home). experience tells me it will be 10 days to a fortnight before I should even consider running again.:(
Has anyone's achilles just gone kaboom! without any obvious trigger. Mine has been a little sore (nothing worrying) for a month or so then just decided to bruise and swell up after an easy run two days ago. No pain during the run but the following morning it was big, black and painful. Running truely is a mugs game!
anybody got any advice on on groin/abductor injuries. i pulled mine 2/3 weeks ago and had a tendon on outside of knee pull at same time .ive rested it for a couple of weeks and tried doing easy 2milers on it but it just wont heal up . any one else had this trouble or got any advice, i'm getting seriously bored with it now ???:(
hangover
[QUOTE=Stagger;93289]I suffered for 8 months with the groin, I started wearing Skins and Nike pro and just carried on in a gentle way. Its not nice though and I wish you a speedy recovery.[/QUOT
HOW LONG !!!!!. not what i wanted to hear stagger, but thanks for the well wish. did the skins help any ?. its an awkward place to massage aswell. wifes having none of it so self massage.....:(
i have suffered from the simalar injury all summer, i tried to run on it during the summer but to no avail, i would get 2 weeks running under my belt then straight back to square one.
my advice would be wait until it heals, could be a while, see a physio(expensive)! use heat to try and speed the healing up.
walk for a few weeks before trying to run on it again. and don't run up/down hills for a few weeks after.
hope your running again soon.
thanks stagger and penguin. been to physio and pulled the IT band and the inner abductor. like penguin said i've started walking to get out and keep some level of fitness, and going to rest it for a couple more weeks and try a small run and see how it goes . a bit concerned as i've been training for the yoredale 100 and this has thrown a spanner in the works a bit. but these things are sent to test us and its better to be injured this time of yr then in summer.:)
cracked foot in july and i dont thinkit has ever healed properly.didnt get taken for x-ray but 2 of faamily freinds are doctors nd they both said crack.run down field today ND IT HURTS. :(
3 weeks coughing, topped off with food poisoning - not eaten for days. God I'm miserable
You're always miserable!!!:p
did 45 mins on the roads on wednesday and after about 4 miles my shins started playing up again, pins and needles in my feet to the point where i had to stop and take my shoes off and rub my feet :p ,not runnning on tarmac again,i knew i shouldn't have done it but for some reason i thought i wouldn't get injured, cant do mileage
How are the feet, Fleeter??
I have a new symptom.........I know, you can't wait to hear about it!!
I've had this hamstring thing since OCTOBER, but today I have a nice little, firm, lump at the back of my knee........any ideas?
Bursa? Tendon thing? Here to stay, or healed by tomorrow?
Who knows?
Knee felt great before running tonight, it was fine until started to run downhill. Got sharp shooting pains right through the knee cap.
Not happy about this, I'll try it again on a slow run in the lakes on Saturday (it could be the roads). If its no better, I'll turn my run into a walk then I'll rest and get some physio.
At the moment its just a niggle, hell it cant be that bad. I managed a half marathon on it on Sunday.
I just dont want this to get any worse.
Sorry to hear about your knee NOYH. Sounds like it could be inflamation behind the knee cap. I got this last year from upping my mileage too quick. Sharp pain in front of knee, more noticable for me going downhills. Physio got me soted & i was allowed to keep on running, but had to curb my long runs to around 13m. Hope you get sorted soon
Knee feels better than yesterday,
Im not gonna get tempting into running, that would mean 1 day on 3 days off.
Im gonna wait till physio on Tuesday and see what he says. Although if it is not in pain on tuesday because its rested, how would he know what the problem is?
Should I run the night before the physio just to aggravate it. Or would that be totally senseless.
Jamie
broke me arm, pot to arm pit! bloody football
6-8 weeks. High peak marathon is 5 weeks 6 days...
should get it cut to half cast sooner though
