Daz, it was quality.
Gripped everything like I had a fresh pair of x-talons on my feet.

Oh and by the way...why does everyone slag off mechanical disc brakes?
Work and back for me. 36 mile round trip.
Up to 95 mile for week with another ride planned on Saturday.:D
From the village(Chipping) over Parlick to Paddys Pole over to 1707(Fairsnape summit) /then back over Parlick and round the back to the Village on one of mi crossers
about 7-8 mile 1500 ft climb
Not legal so will get some earache about it!!
Took the crosser out onto Haterall Ridge... 10 months of no off road riding have done the world of good to my confidence, speed, strength and technique... WTF? Where did all that come from? :)
Al, I have a Kona Caldera hardtail that I am wanting to sell... if you are interested? It has got v-brakes though, but otherwise an excellent MTB for you to start out with. I bought it 2nd hand from a friend years ago, thinking I'd use it, but prefer riding the crosser off road! Looking for £250?
If han lived down the road, I'd nip over there after work with a lump of cash and buy it there and then!
Han, whats the nearest major train station to you?
It'd cost me aprox 67.50 to get the train down to collect it. I reckon you could bung it in a couriers van for about that.
What colour is it han?
So while you lot have been talking about Al's developing bike collection I've been out cycling this afternoon, bit damp and a serious wind. Did a bit of Bwich bashing from Treorchy end, serious head wind up the climb so no records broken on the way up, coming down a different story though, mid forties, thought I was going to take off!! Anyway, 45 miles at a reasonable 16.8 ave. More tomorrow, heavy training weekend, Mrs T in Spain, please don't mention the 45mph thing to anyone going to Spain. Thank you.
It is a cream Caldera, which makes it possible to date it I believe as they had a different colour each year and yes, you can fit discs to it, what is what I was going to do, only, I never got round to it as I always use the crosser...
If you would like it, we can work out some way of getting it to you... I almost came and raced the National Crits in Preston Sunday, but I can't ride as I have a Dutch UCI number :( But am sure something like that will spring up and I can drop it off...
Taking it out for a spin on Sunday, well a friend will be using it, so we will see if it is still in good working order, as I haven't used it in ages! And will take some pics as well... we will take it from there.
Up n down and round and around Rivington pike on one of my crossers(heavy one) for a couple of hours
getting reet muddy:thumbup:
44 mile in just over 3 and a quarter hours.
Av was 13.4
Have seen this event in September and as it near home we rode the 2 toughest climbs.

I think I need a couple of long rides yet to tackle the 100k but feel I could handle the 60k and put a reasonable effort in.
Yup, just keep eating, thats the answer. Porridge for breakfast suits me then keep stuffing it down:D
48 solid miles for me today, fitness and confidence returning. The classic climbs of Brynn Du and Blaenllechau(Welsh: trans, side of house). Good training for L'escalier du diable........ Good romp over the moors back to Ponty and home (narrowly missing a Land Rover Disco who wouldn't move over, grrrr. Ave 16.5.:D
Did similar today on x bike as in 3px, but done no training whatsoever first proper ride out since last winter - much less fit than last year. However got round ok, nothing to push with on road sections but bike handling not too bad - took some interesting lines but only fell off once.
Been out on the cross bike three days running now... feeling a lot stronger than last year and even though I had not been out on it since 3 peaks cx last year, let alone off road and I haven't run in 6 months, I am still stronger and quicker than I was last year AND better bike handling skills... now how is that possible?????
Went for a bike ride with my mate phil ligget yesterday - 7:10ish for 93 miles and lots of hills (including winnats at 60 miles :-O)- average of 13mph (didn't stop the clock for wee and snack stop) so maybe a slightly higher moving average.
Had only intended to do the shorter one (60 miles) - so did some running hill reps wed - had a tight glute from that gave me a bit of knee pain (ITB like) on the right - then inner knee pain on the left (prob from over compensating) - mainly a bit poor on the preparation front - but chuffed now.
if you fancy a recovery ride/run come to the Keighley duathlon tonight. At Kildwick around corner from white lion. All welcome, its free. 7 mile bike time trial and then 2.5 mile fell. 7.00pm start. Pub after.
Though bike is on road you can use any kind, think I might be on fixed tonight.
Out on mtb for first time in a couple of week as I've been hammering the road bike a bit.... discovered that I've almost totally lost the ability to ride on greasy trails... sure it'll come back though.
did 30 miles round the dales in 1:40 yesterday and got soaked!!
made 3 fellrunners jump out of their skin who were running down the road towards Ribblehead ( doing the 3P's?) because as i get level with them a sheep ran out from the grass verge in front of me and i yelled out rather loud. bl**dy dozy thing nearly brought me off.
