4 miles hilly roads, cold with some ice in places.
Cheers - Raymond
Ran to work today (and home again). Usual 3ish miles. But it was quicker today. Just mulling over why.....
- I went in later than usual which meant a) I was awake! and b) I'd had breakfast before I ran (with time to digest it)
- only had a bumbag instead of a kimmsac
- I'd recovered (?) from the KT at the weekend
- had a good night's sleep
- was really looking forward to going to work - oh dear now we've lost it totally!!!
Does anyone else wonder like this?
8.5 miles on the road!
Bit chilly to start with mind!
A min over the hour so reasonably pleased with that!
45 minutes off road around the trails in Alkrington woods. It was a bit perilous underfoot with the ice though.
Aarrgggghhhhh!!! No training for 7 days now 'cause of the worst cold I've ever had :(
And training had been going so well....legs felt good, body wasn't feeling tired, plenty of miles and plenty of ascent.
Ach well, I rarely get a cold so this should be the last one I get this winter?:)
7 miles round winter hill last night - REALLY slippy in parts had to take it really steady but a lovely clear night
swam a mile this morning and an hours spinning class to do later on this evening :D
Did you go up on the ill or just stick to the roads??
If you were up on the ill then fair play, it was slippy enough on the roads!
Up t' th'ill head torches an all - yeah, wee bit slippy slidey in places  went through the woods (can't remember the name - where the cigarette tunnel is) most of the trees were down and had to scramble around in the dark climbing over tham and looking for a visible path!!
cigarette tunnel?????
Ay up luv w're be dat den???
Oh can't type like that much more!
Is that in the pine woods from Arcon up to the road then???
possibly?!! Not quite sure of all the names of the roads etc yet! definatley pine woods though!:D
near chorley old road!
don't know the names of the roads or the woods, or the hills, tussock or all the stuff they have names for up there!
I know where the mast is!!!:D :D
1KM track (GPS Measured) carved in the ice ready for your use RR - You owe my son £10.00
Actually reading you post inspired me to get off my lard arse and exercise these flabby thighs just now. Popped on the mudclaws and went up and down Shire Hill then round Mossy Lea, very icy and snowy, in the fading light. Only 35 mins, went very very very slowly to avoid rib jaring. But it wasnt too bad - so thanks
I get very downhearted when I can't properly exercise. I think it does more for my mind than my body.
Guess what?
No your'e wrong I ran somewhere different tonight
Got finished work sharpish like and went to the local park where we have miles measured out for reps. Did 4x 1mile. Average 5:21 which is my fastest since return to proper training. Good sign. Bit of a sore calf though - hope it's nowt. Dont want to be posting in 'todays injuries'
No running tomorrow TF. Haven't cycled for nearly 2 weeks so will do Turbo thingy or nowt.
Big training weekend ahead.
10 miles with my torch on and a full rucksack
loads of vabbits being startled
Thursday: lunchtime 6 miles hilly off road (mud, bits of snow and ice), evening 5 miles road (a bit of up and down fairly chilly).
Cheers - Raymond
An hour in the gym lifting weights whilst looking at lass's in lycra last night!
Then 20 mins sat in the jacuzzi!
Tough session!
Planning on an hours run tonight then out with the bike club tomorrow morning for a battering!
Brain training only this morning unfortunately
Few miles in the thick clag running round in circles trying not to get cold and miss imaginary paths!!
Didn't realise compasses could actually be quite SO useful!
Managed to traverse from noon hill to the pike in record time though:D
Just thawing out nicely :D
Two very slow loops of Watergrove Reser at dinner time, took it easy with the the Northerns being tomorrow.
Last night- first run in a few weeks. just about shifted a heavy bout of a winter cold.
Lovely run from Chunal up towards Mill Hill then Harry Hut.
Delightful if a bit slow through the snow. Good fun when you hit a deep patch. Some of the group spent more time rolling than running. Got to get out again before it all melts away.
No training:eek:
Too much to get ready for the Triathlete/Terrorist training weekend in the Lakes.
Proper run on a proper fell tomorrow though. Cant wait.
6 miles through Ashworth Valley and and around Jumbles ressy.
Felt tired before i went out-but feel brill now!
5 mile up and round moel famau cold snowy and lots of ice patches.weeeee...aaarrrhhh bump:(
Took the afternoon off work and went from Tockholes to Darwen Tower to Great Hill through tockholes woods and back to car. 11 Miles in total 2hrs, longest run in 4 weeks.
Felt brill before I went out-but feel tired now.
Sorry coach!
I intend to get over your end next week anyway.I passed my old house the other day and felt a little pang of nostalgia, knowing that i used to step out of my door and be practically on Holcombe hill.
7.3 miles over Ilkley Moor, 1100ft of climbing. Looked at the 12 apostles, the swastika stone and the White Wells baths on the way round.
Then went to say goodbye to 2 of the 3 kittens..... :(

5 points to anyone who guesses how they got their names....... (trying to get focussed or what!!)
not drowned MUD!
21 miles, 5791ft of ascent, from the layby on the A494 near Llanferes, over Foel Fenlli, Moel Famau, Moel Arthur, Pen Y Cloddiau, turning at Moel Y Parc and retracing my steps, 4:06:59, suprised myself, not only did I "run" the whole thing but I was a hour faster than expected. Makes Edale Skyline slightly less daunting now.
Had an excellent walk / jog in the lakes. Went from the dam at Haweswater upto High Raise via Low Raise saw a herd of around 5 dear on the way up. From High Raise went across to Rampsgill head. Then went to Kidsty Pike then up to High Street, Followed the Kentmere route upto Harter Fell. Was blown away by the view across Haweswater from the viewpoint near Harter Fell. Then went onto Branstree and Selside Pike then back down to the dam. 16.5 miles 4300ft. Took it slow, walked the hills jogged the flats/downs. What a great day for it.
Jamie
9 miles, felt crap
beer last nite
only myself to blame :(
Friday did nowt as I was moving house!
Today went out on the bike, 2:45 and 45 miles up in't hills. Bolton to blackburn thru to rossendale, into rochdale and back thru bury!
Pretty hard work, bonked a treat thou was intentional, trying to get the body used to burning fat!
Just done 50 mins lifting and then a lovely relaxing 15 mins in the jacuzzi!
Tomorrow am planning an easy, slowish 15 miles on the road! PLus 70 lenghts in the pool in the evening!
Reckon I might be ok to hit the hills next weekend as the groin seems alot better!
Took my new Walsh PBs out for their first trip over the downs; one hour and a few hills later I was glad to take them of. The grip and the lightness are great but I had to do them up so tight to stop them slipping on my feet that as I say I was happy when I took them off. Just got to break them in I suppose.
Cheers - Raymond
Yes! :D
I finally got back out on the road last night. First time in over two months.
Did a steady three miles round the village and the recurrent knee injury seems to have gone (fingers crossed).
Felt great today. :)
