Yes I remember Peter Post, I think it was the '68 Olympics that he won gold in one of the pursuit events.
At the time I was a schoolboy rider with Lancaster CC. In the semi-finals of his event he knocked out one of our local heroes, Gerry Mawson, Lune Racing Cycling Club. Gerry was no slouch; at the time he had a 52:xx time for 25 miles on the Brock (A6, N. Lancashire) course, riding a 92" fixed.
Excuse me but this had disappeared way down p2:w00t:
I haven't been for a ride today but I just needed to share one thing...... A year after I last was able to run, after a bit of a horrid time following metalwork removal, I have put on the daps and been for a run, well jog, slowly, but 25mins over frozen fields above Cardiff on a glorious winter morning was just great. And with no after effects so far, perhaps a longer one next week. The hills are beckoning this summer.
Tomorrow, the harsh reality of a frozen few hours on the bike!
Although I'm pleased that you're running again Toffer, shouldn't you be keeping it quiet? The idea is to not say a word about training, turn up at a race - limping - & tear the legs of Wheeze.
Not been out on the bike today, in fact due to some virus that has given me a sore head, sore balls & a huge amount of lethargy I've done nothing for 4 or 5 days.
Get some rest fellrunner.
Done a fair bit on the rollers this week and ran 14 miles tonight followed by another hour on the rollers.
Been watching the tour down under. Nice race.
Well done toffer on the run.
Hopefully a ride tomorrow but the frost is back.
I am in London this week, for an art fair... and have been commuting on my foldup... knee a bit dodgy, not sure if it is the cycling or the standing around at the fair...
70 miles today , roads a bit wet. Took in a lot of climbs. Middleton top, black rocks, and a few more. Was blowy but the sun came out.
Ran my tyros at 135psi today. A bit more bumpy but still very comfortable on the steel frame.
2hr score BMBO orienteering event near Otley Chevin, Leeds, in a team with my old man. First time on a proper mtb and I really enjoyed it. A whole new world of technique and skill to master next race is Hit the North! Going have to get some more miles in before then....
