Hee Hee - a gear debate! my 3 cents:

cent 1 I don't think anyone is going to come to harm through lack of a hat & gloves, no matter what befalls them - litigation as a result of a yea-nay decision on that one is highly improbable.
cent 2 If the organiser has a divergent opinion, then that should be respected. It is easy enough to keep em in the sports bag year round - my bag still has crampons in it!
cent 3 The FRA should probably add hat/gloves to the list of kit one should be prepared to carry. Hard to second-guess a hassled organiser when one sniffs the air on a balmy spring morning.
