Most people try and get a back-to-back support in prior to their own attempt, but any normal mortal will need a recovery period from that. I'm thinking that about 2 - 3 weeks of gradually decreasing intensity with a total rest week leading up to the Big Day should be sufficient. What do you think?

Thanks Martyn

Pleased to hear that your training is back on track.
I was planning to taper 3 weeks prior to my attempt, I have agreed to assist leg 1 for somebody 3 weeks before and I was planning that to be my last Lakes trip, then to decrease the intensity of my training. Not 100% what I will do in this 3 week taper but my final week will not include any hills. (I have entered a 5.9mile road race...ooopps)
I think during the final week I will do this road race and then maybe just a 2/3 mile gentle jog.
The two week prior to this I will continue with my core workouts and maybe do 1 hill session each week with just 2 easy runs.
Any further advice is welcome...
