Alpkit make some excellent kit, got the camping mats from them and they're excellent
Yeh, there are plenty of ultra cheap headtorches too but Petzl make good quality kit and their prices look good compared to Hope, or Silva, or Speleotechnics.
If I were out on Cross Fell in December in the clag and the sleet I'd like to have the peace of mind of having a quality piece of kit. Mind you, you could always buy two dirt cheap ones and carry one in the bumbag.... or three even
Being a new user of headtorches this does sound like a good offer, so why don't we here more about it?? and what a price only £12.50. I suppose only time will tell if this has been a good buy Norfolk & Goode.
Just had a look at the web-site. They do appear to offer good value for money, providing the workmanship is like for like with pricier goods - although the expected battery life on the Gamma is shorter than similar kit from the better known manufacturers. I have see the snail-mail address before, but I'm pretty certain that this is my first acquaintance with Alp-Kit.
I bought one of the Alpkit Gamma's the other week as a HT for general camping/bothying duties.
As your main HT for night-time running its not going to be up to the job, maybe for some road stuff or off-road stuff you know well it would do but for proper hill stuff at speed no chance.
I use a PT Apex for my running and the Gamma falls well short of its output.
I'm the first to agree that it doesn't take much to beat a Tikka+ in fact when I did the fellsman with one it was just about good enough to help me tie my shoe lace!!
Last year I borrowed my mate's Tikka XP which is much much better so I nicked it again for the tour du mont blanc.
All I can say is that this thing I've got from Alpkit outshines the XP and so it should as the spec is 51 Lumens against the XP's 35. 50% brighter for 1/3 the price - that's good value in my book.
Only time will tell if it makes the grade in 'the long run' but what I can say is it's definitely not to be confused with the cheap and (not so) cheerful rubbish you can buy from Argos or Aldi.
Sounds ok for cycling, think I might get one.
Alpkit do some good stuff I've got bags, sleeping mats and their first headtorch (wouldn't use that for night runs but the kids like them )
Its worth a try at that price for a spare but as a main torch not bright enough for me

Not that there is anything wrong with the candlepower forums your doing a good job keep testing torches for us
